Got a Northwestern rejection. Makes it official. Only waiting to hear back from Yale (but not really).

One more week ends, one more week closer to the end ?

I used Magoosh to prep for the GRE. It’s a super cool platform. They are kind with extensions as well. I bought the 6 month pack, and you’re allowed to pause /freeze account as many times as you like in case you’re taking a few weeks off and you don’t want the clock running. Even after the 6 months ended they offered me a few extra months when I requested I needed more time. I think my mistake was ONLY doing Magoosh. They are great for prepping but next time I am going to entirely solve Manhattan 5lb, and maybe look over Barron’s for words. Oh, btw, if you do wanna join Magoosh let me know, I have a code that might give us both some benefits

this process sucks. the professors’ tweets are right. it really is their loss. they’re missing out on people who could succeed and work hard and shape their fields in so many significant ways. there’s way too many applicants, and very little spots.

That’s what they’ve been saying since 10 days...

If it is a reject, I’d rather not receive a personalised email than have to wait for weeks just to confirm my fears of rejection. Schools should just use a standard reply. I get that personalised emails feel better, but honestly getting a rejection makes you feel so sucky that no amount of personalisation can make you feel better. Just use automated systems and TELL US!!!

Also, I see an undergraduate fellowship on the political methodology society website, but does anyone know how to apply for that??

I just have Northwestern and Yale to hear back from for PhDs. I’m 99.9% sure northwestern is a reject but they’re really dragging it out! And honestly, the chances of me getting in Yale are almost non-existent. This is not me doubting myself, just speaking based off of admission statistics.

Tomorrow marks the beginning of yet another week that will be filled with either stress, excitement, pain or happiness. But regardless of what we feel, it’s good to know that this stressful process is slowly reaching towards its end (at least for US schools). Good luck to everyone for this week

That’s true too. I guess northwestern just had a special place in my heart. I wanted it more than any other school in my list... I would be incredibly happy to go to UT Austin though

Same. I think when I called them they talked about their system and how it personalises letters and then once it’s ready it emails people. I’m guessing that they’ve begun, and it’ll keep rolling out until all the 600 people have been reached.

Since so many acceptances have gone out for Northwestern it is going to be rejects and I know it but a part of me just doesn’t wanna see it cause then it makes it real
