  1. That’s what I did! I let them know I want to be considered and I reapplied but they waived the fee and linked the transcripts and GRE scores!
  2. Do you automatically get considered for that, or can we just ask UCSD to apply for the MPP?
  3. Today has been way too tough, and I'm literally frustrated at this point.
  4. The least they can do is send out a mass rejection email too and just save us the agony.
  5. Damn. This sucks. Looks like I have to count that as a reject too then cause I haven't heard about being accepted today.
  6. Are we thinking all Michigan results came out today?
  7. I see what you mean. There's definitely no guarantee that you will get a job, and the job market (especially rn) is incredibly competitive. Almost the same odds of getting into a PhD program if I may. We can still "try" I guess and see how it goes. A lot of schools in Canada and Europe are a lot cheaper for Masters so that's a possible avenue to explore. Additionally, I feel like one could also independently try to learn some research skills or topics that might help them by taking online courses with top universities. (Definitely not the most attractive thing on your profile if you're trying again for next year, but definitely looks better than doing nothing).
  8. I understand what you mean and fit is incredibly important. I've also seen people who believed they had the best "research fit" with schools that have been rejected from those. Additionally, sometimes, a lot of great people work on similar research areas and that gets them far, but out of those few only 1-2 are selected due to other limitations. Also, sometimes even if you do have a great fit, that professor might not be taking more students that year, or might want to slightly change the direction of their research etc. The possibilities are endless and that's what makes this process so unpredictable (almost random) in my opinion.
  9. I'm right there with you! I've applied for 3 Masters programs: LSE, Columbia and Chicago. LSE and Chicago are still taking applications. If you know of any fellowships, then let me know! I'm also in the midst of a job search, primarily looking at think tanks and corporations like Booz Allen Hamilton, or other political consulting firms. Journalism might be a good bet too.
  10. Gade, Davis and Sexton. To be really honest, it wasn't the best research fit for me. I still wanted to apply to Emory and learn more in that area of research, and because I really liked the program overall. You?
  11. Emory rejection // IR Really really hurts! Congrats to those who got in though, great program
  12. I don't want to sound like a horrible person, but seeing other people receive rejections makes me feel like this is so normal. In the beginning, I would almost take it personally and almost think that other people are better, or more qualified (which they are many times). But now, after seeing really really talented and qualified people being rejected makes me feel like this process is honestly so random and based on chance, and the reason I'm getting rejected is not because I'm necessarily underqualified but simply because it's a tough year with tough choices. I've received a few rejection emails so far, and I truly believe graduate departments when they sympathize and say that they were unable to admit a lot of highly qualified applicants because this is probably true! So if you're in the same boat as I am, and you're getting rejections, just try not to blame it on yourself and just look at it as an opportunity to keep doing what you do and improve until your time comes
  13. I just got done with my first week of classes! First week’s usually not too bad, but now from the second week onwards is going to be exhausting!
  14. As Sunday is almost over, and tomorrow marks the day of another crucial week of decisions, I wanted to wish everyone good luck. I’m personally hoping that I get to hear from at least some of the schools, and I hope you all do too. Hopefully, some (or all) of the news is positive for everyone. So let’s pray/hope/channel positive energy into this coming week! ?
  15. Of course I’m not saying it’s impossible. Just feel like the odds end up being increasingly against you as time passes. And congrats on your decision!
  16. My anxiety for Vanderbilt is increasing now since a lot of people got interview requests and I haven’t heard yet.
  17. I'm pretty sure that's what it shows on many portals. I believe the SoP and Resume are counted as a part of your application and you can see it if you preview it. Whereas the writing sample, which is substantially longer, is viewed separately and is not mixed in with the application I guess. I saw that in many portals when I applied so I wouldn't worry about it.
  18. Just got a rejection from UIUC. They received 75 applications and they are trying to yield an entering class of 8-10 students. I knew this was coming but it still hurts!
  19. Excited for the new Brooklyn 99 season coming soon
  20. Thank you for your kind words! Kudos to you for being patient and relentless and dedicated enough to keep trying! As per your signature under your post you seem to have a fantastic profile with a lot of experience so I really hope the best for you and I wish that you receive positive news from at least one program of your choice. It is incredibly hard to stay positive and focus on anything else, but there's not much else we can do at this point anyway. I don't know if it's just me, but the anxiety caused by waiting is taking over my normal life and conversations I have with people! For some reason, this is the only thing I can think or talk about it anymore. At this point, I've reached the stage where if I am indeed going to receive all rejections then I might as well get them all at once and just start to heal and move on and work harder for next year. I'm sorry if all this is a little too negative or upsets some people on here. I still have hope that something might work out but all this waiting is just driving me insane ?
  21. There were a couple PSU waitlists and acceptances yesterday.
