Keep your head up. I applied last year to two schools and got rejected. I've been working in research for the time being, and racked up some more experience. This year, I have applied to 10 schools, and received 4 interview invites so far. The road gets better, and YOU get better. Your intentions to pursue doctoral studies becomes stronger (which will show in your future interviews). You'll look back and be like: wow, I really found value in using that extra year to work. It is a learning experience, so interpret it that way!

Thank you for the note! I've come to terms with the fact that I'm likely not getting in this year. I only applied to 4 (very competitive) programs. I really like my job and wasn't willing to be very far from family during the pandemic, so I limited my applications to dream schools near family Next year I'll expand it out a little more. Hey ChiccaChica. I’ll be interviewing for the JHU program in PFRH. Interview week is from Feb 8th - 12th. I don’t know if they’re done sending out interview invites though. 

I have no way of knowing what it is like at other schools, but an administrator told current students at HSPH that apps are up 50% for the entire Population Health Sciences PhD program. More than 800 applications for ~45 seats. 

For those who have interviewed previously or are prepping for interviews coming up, do you have any suggestions on how to prepare? This is my first time applying/interviewing so am quite nervous, any insights on past experiences or guidance would be really helpful! 

Sorry to hear that news. The silence and waiting is tough and it seems like any news would be better than nothing but then it’s definitely a disappointment when it’s not when you hoped for. My fingers are crossed for something great to come your way!

It was a bit hard to interpret. The email was clear that interviews were happening last week Jan / first week of Feb but then also mentioned a 'recruitment week' with perhaps other events. It wasn't clear if that's the same time frame as interviews or later. If later I think you could assume rolling interviews are possible

Hi all! This is my first time posting. I've applied to four programs and have yet to hear from any of them. Trying to stay positive, but I'm open to applying again next year if it doesn't work out this year. I applied to: Brown HSR, Harvard Population Health - Global Health and Population, Hopkins Population, Family and Reproductive Health, Yale SBS. I'm interested in maternal and child health, implementation science, and health services research.

Information is power so sharing here that I got an interview request from Emory's new Global Health Development PhD program. They are scheduling interviews and other information sessions the last week of Jan / first week of Feb. 

I applied to the same programs at Harvard and JHU and haven't heard anything yet, either. I've been a bit discouraged because I've seen some interview invites trickle in. But, it ain't over till it's over! Best of luck to you
