I saw that you got a big scholarship to UChicago. Where are you thinking of ultimately going?
Yes!! I was super surprised. I love chicago (I grew up there) but I think I’m leaning towards Columbia. They gave me slightly less money than Chicago so I’m hoping they can match Chicago’s offer. UNC is actually the most affordable option for me since I qualify for in-state, but I’m not sure if I will attend. I will be making a decision soon so hopefully this frees up a spot for another student to be accepted to UNC!

I still haven't heard back about UChicago ☹️
Wondering if this means I was just plain rejected??? ugh. I guess there's still time today...
I didn’t get the email until 6:36pm yesterday! There’s still a bit of time left no worries. Also they could just be delayed. For some of my other schools, they notified me after their promised deadline but I still was accepted! Hang in there

Just heard back from Uchicago with a 30k scholarship per year!! Congrats to everyone who also got in :)) so exciting

Has anyone gotten their financial aid package from Columbia? I got mine today and they're giving 20k per year in scholarship. Does anyone know the max amount of scholarship they give out?
I also received 20k/yr from Columbia! It’s usually the max they give out however I’ve heard people who received the same appeal amount appeal and get more scholarship money!

Still waiting I applied 12/1. I know those on here heard it would be another week or two but it leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth that they didn’t communicate to all applicants that they need more time. I don’t love that they promised a decision by March 1 and then let that date pass without any update. Anyone feel similarly?
I feel you 100%! It’s pretty frustrating to be honest. I’ve seen in past forums where they even extend their decisions until late March or April for priority applicants. I hope it won’t be the same case this year. It’s nice to know multiple priority applicants are still waiting too though!

Anyone hear from Columbia?
I’m also still waiting. When did you apply?

What does everything think the odds are that Columbia actually sends out priority decisions today?
I actually emailed admissions last week on Thursday and they said I’ll hear my decision within 1-2 more weeks. I think somebody else also got that same answer too. I applied 12/1! I really hope they do release some decisions today though

I emailed them yesterday about when I would hear back and they told me I should hear back in two - three weeks. I applied on the priority deadline 12/1.
Oh wow ? makes me doubt they’re going to respond by 3/1 now. Thanks for letting me know!

Anybody hear back from Columbia today?
-
For those who have heard back from Columbia - what time did you receive your decision? (Did this happen via email or did you refresh your checklist page)

I just got my financial package from Columbia (exactly one week after the acceptance letter). They're offering me a grand total of...$0 in scholarship and a $20K unsubsidized federal loan ?
Aw man that sucks is their scholarship entirely need based? Or is some of it merit based?

I just heard back from Columbia! I applied a little before 12/1 but my last LOR was submitted right on the deadline.
Congrats!!

Has anybody heard anything from Columbia today? If so did you apply before or after 12/1?

Concerning Erika Hart’s situation - it’s extremely disappointing to hear how Columbia SSW handled the whole situation. NYU Silver was also called out for another racist incident a while back too. As a bipoc, I was definitely turned off by how the institution handled all of these situations but at this point I’m realizing that no institution, even those with a clean track record, are immune to racism... up until recently CSSW had a clean track record. Many schools are trying to become more anti-racist but racism is systemic and it is deep... with majority being predominantly white institutions it’s hard to avoid these racist encounters no matter which school we choose to go to. So even though these events are steering me away, I’m trying to focus on which school I can benefit from the most and which school’s values and field opportunities align with what I want to do. But I’m also considering at diversity of staff and students too.

Thank you so much! I’m actually still deciding but I’m leaning towards Columbia - I submitted an appeal to see if they can match Chicago’s offer! Fingers crossed.
