Hey there! Any chance you applied to the Health and Public Policy track for the JHU HPM PhD? I believe that @DarkPassenger applied to the HSR track but I've been trying to track down folks who applied to HPP to commiserate lol. The wait is also killing me!! I had a very anxiety-filled dream about the JHU decision last night lol.

Thank you! I did apply to the PhD program and I'm not sure if it operates on a different review timeline. Keeping fingers crossed for the both of us!

Has anyone heard from Hopkins re: the PhD program in HPM, specifically the Health and Public Policy concentration?

I am so very sorry. I have the utmost respect and admiration for you for taking on the PhD/DrPH application process, which is GRUELING under any circumstance but made all the more taxing by this unimaginable loss. Keeping you in the light during this process and beyond.

Thanks, and absolutely! I have a 3.0 GPA from undergrad (college was rough) but a 4.0 in my MPH. GRE is 169V/161Q/5.0W. I have 5 years of clinical research experience and 2 years of experience in my research areas of interest. 2 conference presentations and 1 publication. As you can tell from my stats, I'm not the most remarkable applicant. I feel very fortunate to have gotten interviews. In any case, I wish you the best of luck and I hope you get good news from Emory and other programs soon!

Got an offer to interview for Emory's BSHE program! For anyone who's wondering, their virtual visit days are 2/3-2/9 this year.
-
Thank you and good luck to you as well!

I heard on Jan. 8th by email.

In addition to all the amazing interview advice that posters have already given, I wanted to add a few potential curveball questions that I've seen online: 1. Why are you applying now? Why not take a few years and get more work experience? Conversely, if you already have significant work experience, what would a PhD offer you that work experience can't? 2. How did you arrive at your proposed research questions? Whose input and mentorship did you seek and why? 3. Describe a time you experienced a setback, academically or personally. 4. How do you perform in an unstructured environment? What guidance will you need to make sure you can finish your dissertation?

Best of luck with Harvard! Wonderful to hear about your positive experience. Do you know if all interview invites for Emory have been sent? I applied to BSHE but I would assume interviews for all programs would be happening around the same time.

Hi there! I have an interview for BU's HSR program next week, but I can't speak to other programs.

Has anyone applied to Emory's BSHE program? Any word about interviews yet?
-
This is great to know, thank you so much!

Got it, thanks! Definitely not under the impression that I have a guaranteed acceptance, as it looks like applicants in the past have been rejected after this stage for a number of reasons. But thrilled to have gotten past the admissions committee nonetheless! Yes, I was fortunate to meet with a couple POIs before applying and have great conversations with them.

Hi friends! Did anyone apply to the PhD program in Epi at Minnesota? I just received an email saying I passed the first round of review and that they will now begin the process of matching me with a faculty advisor and securing a competitive funding package. Is this...sort of a conditional acceptance? Can I get my hopes up?

I'm sure you did wonderfully!

Hi, congrats on interviewing with UNC! Was the doctoral event just for prospective Nutrition students or all applicants?
-
Just received an invitation to interview for BU's HSR program! Echoing @epi2be above and would love any pointers. Is this the right thread to crowdsource interview tips/potential questions?
-
Got it, thank you! I'll keep this thread posted if anything changes

Has anyone heard about phone interviews for BU's HSR program? Based on last year's thread, it looks like people started receiving invites around this time!

Hi! Which track did you apply to? I applied to the HPM program at Hopkins and was informed that they don't require interviews as part of the application process.
