  1. Absolutely. I meant to go back in my 30s but life happened. I've become disenchanted with corporate work. I've wanted to be a researcher and teacher since my early 20s, so I figured it was high time I got my stuff in order. It will be REALLY hard to lose my current salary, but the saying is true, money isn't everything.
  2. Too old? HAHAHAHA I'm 41 and doing it. At 27, you'll be fine. If you're wanting to be a Professor, most don't retire until their 70s, so....
  3. Thank you! Much appreciated. Connect with me on LinkedIn or Twitter if you're there.
  4. My browser keeps blocking me from accessing the website saying "The Connection is not private". Anyone else getting that? Makes me think the site might have been hacked.
  5. I applied and got into Edinburgh back in 2008 for a PhD, but ended up choosing Dartmouth for my Masters instead. I often wonder if that was the right choice. I think Edinburgh is an AMAZING school and considered it this round, but I find the funding options in the US are much better (or at least I understand them better).
  6. I was eyeing mostly east coast schools. I live in Seattle and Im ready to be back east. Although I did apply to Oregon, but I like Eugene, Im not the biggest fan of the Bay Area.
  7. I went into this application season focused on the "fit". I found Professors and departmental expertise in all of the mentioned programs that could help me with my research. My interest deals with media, public opinion, political ideology, and destruction of democratic norms in the US. Accepted, Rejected, Pending Political Science: Princeton, UMass, UConn, Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern, Syracuse, Cornell, Yale, MIT, Oregon Sociology: Boston College, UVA Communications: UConn, UMass, UPenn American Studies: William and Mary
  8. I think Marx got intrusive thoughts every 30 seconds trying to write Grundrisse. ?
  9. I got the same thing asking me to set up a NetID and to sign up for something called MySlice.
  10. Did anyone apply to Syracuse?
  11. My name is Brian, but Holy Grail 1000%.
  12. Regarding Princeton decisions... If you have any form of decision on your account, you will see a new section called "Decision" and it will be between "Print Receipt" and "View Checklist" Screenshot attached. FYI this is not from Princeton. I have not received any notification from them.
  13. Maybe they're doing "visualization" exercises like "The Secret". Hoping their thoughts will become their reality. That's what Im going with.
  14. Princeton Decisions = Fake News. Trolls are trolling.
  15. Thanks. I’m honestly over it and can’t wait to get back into school.
  16. I applied to Princeton (American) and have heard nothing either. No updates in the portal. Good luck to all. There have been a bunch of trolls the last few days, I can't tell you how many folks got into Hogwarts... LOL
  17. I hear that. My background is in social media and content. I’ve worked in both content and social since about 2009 with everyone from Starbucks, Amazon, and Microsoft to startups and creative agencies. I currently oversee social for a tech startup.
  18. Right on! What's your top choice and what are you wanting to study?
  19. Got it. What other schools/programs did you apply to?
  20. I did not reach out to any Professors in either program. Which program did you hear usually has interviews?
  21. Hey there. Thank you! Congrats on the interview invitation, that’s great. i applied to the Communications PhD and the Political Science PhD at UConn. my research interest can be served in Poli Sci, Sociology, or Comms. So I found schools that had Professors whose research interests aligned with my own and applied.
  22. Heard back from UConn today, they offered full funding. Super excited. Anyone heard anything from other schools? Crossing my fingers for everyone.
