Congratulations to all those who got accepted at UChicago. I see a 'wait-listed' post on the results page. So are they out with all their decisions to are there still more to be given out? Chicago is my longest long shot. It would be good to know the rejection. No surprises here.

That was me informing about the Northwestern admits. I was told by the grad program assistant that they will start notifying later today and continue to next week. Maybe it's not too late? Or maybe they have called it quits for good and will start afresh with the notifications on monday?

I didn't apply to Berkeley as at first I was pretty sure I won't get in with my horrible undergrad grades. Later I had second thoughts but then I was not sure whether they accept 3-year British format Honors undergrad degrees from my country (like most North American grad schools). Also, it was way too late by then.

I find it hard to believe that UChicago is cutting admittance by 50% or more this year. I wish it's not the case. Thanks for the UChicago admit notification news.

I'm one for South Asia as a comparativist. But I'm not ready to be focused into a Area Studies guy. More of a generalist.

Couldn't control, mates. Called up the department grad program assistant at Northwestern. They are sending out admits through e-mail from sometime later today, although they will probably be notifying admits next week also. Keep an eye on your inbox, folks. The applyweb page will be updated from next week (both acceptances and rejections). No impact of the financial crisis whatsoever. The department is taking the usual number of students, which is between 15 to 20 and no cutbacks on funding too. I didn't ask whether I was in or out. But she checked whether they have everything about me on file. If she knew the decision on my application, then she didn't sound very hopeful. Oh well.

6-9?? Yep. There goes Chicago. No chance in hell. No sir.

I'm told they are still reviewing. Admits to come in a few waves. They have given out admits to the outstanding applicants, those who get into everywhere. I'm looking at you plisar and coachrjc. :wink:

Did you guys notice we are already near surpassing the hopelessly long decisions thread of last year and we are not even close to February's last week and March's 1st week, probably the two most busiest weeks in admissions calendar. EDIT: we have already surpassed that. :oops:

I second that.

Looking at all the places I applied I see only Northwestern coming out this week (or is it?). The grad secretary at Purdue, my ultimate safety school, told me on Monday that my file is with the last member of the committee and I should know unofficially by Friday (i.e. tomorrow). Over at the Marquette MA program, another safety, the DGS mailed me saying that my file is still to be seen by two more members of the committee but with comments from members who have already reviewed my file I look good for acceptance. Official decision to come in a week and funding decision to come at end February. Oh well. :| (and congrats to the person who got into Duke. )

Another morning, another day in the life of anxious grad school applicants. Life is beautiful.

Just woke up. Congrats to everyone who got into Berkeley and Cornell. Lots of them decisions I see posted in the results page. I think NWU will be out today, if not, tomorrow. Someone said theory concentration admits have been given out at NWU, comparative field decisions haven't. That makes me feel a bit less anxious. Bad news for the theory guys out there.
