  1. Reminder for everyone to decline the offers they will not be accepting! It can really make the difference for people on waitlists.
  2. Since we’re almost through February I want to remind everyone that there’s no sense in holding onto all your offers. Letting the schools you wont attend know that you aren’t considering them anymore opens up spots for our waitlisted friends.
  3. Likely a rejection. They notoriously delay rejections. Also i doubt they’re taking any more AP behavioralists if the rumors about druckman leaving are true.
  4. I've never heard of academics being presumed polite lol
  5. Yeah is anyone gonna claim that here? Feels slightly early for them — I wasn't expecting to hear back this week. For those that have heard, is your portal updated?
  6. Even just on poliscirumors there are constantly rumors of Druckman leaving Northwestern. Usually his family ties to the Chicago area are the reason people give to explain him staying (and being able to leverage an offer for a raise from NU). We obviously wont know if this one is true for a while but im hesitant to buy in (especially considering Poliscirumors is what it is). Would be a major blow for NU if true
  7. 2 admissions cycles ago i didnt get my reject from them until april
  8. Im not sure about their batching but there was an informal virtual session for admitted students that also included waitlisted students. Im inferring that means they’ve more or less finalized their waitlist
  9. looking at the results page and I've never heard of Cuumtown Seminary...
  10. Anyone willing to claim the UPenn admit and share any details they gave?
  11. that website is a cesspool (but occasionally helpful if you can sift through the trolls)
  12. Id ask the current grad students at your program. You should have a chance to ask all your neighborhood questions on the visit day.
  13. Most people use the usnews political science rankings as a rough outline of the reputation hierarchy. Northwestern is about the 20th best program. My 2 cents: ive heard theres a fair bit of dysfunction in the department but unfortunately dont know what kind so i cant be more specific. I have also heard there’s a bunch of sort of deadwood qualitative scholars that aren’t publishing a ton with or without students. But at the end of the day look at their placement record, graduates get jobs (and seem like the expected jobs for a ~20 ranked program imo) which is what matters. It sounds like you like Northwestern a lot so it makes sense to go there! Unless you really want the oxford experience and really want to roll the dice again for a higher ranked program later, I’d go straight into the NW phd.
  14. Cant speak to Georgetown but Im a fellow UNC applicant (AP)
  15. This goes for every school! No sense in holding onto offers we’re not genuinely considering.
  16. https://www.phdstipends.com/results Plugging this website as a resource and also encouraging you all to submit your offer results even at schools youve received an offer from but wont attend
  17. Someone did claim last night (they also had a Berkeley acceptance if I remember correctly)
  18. Stipends dont adjust to cost of living as much as salaries in the professional world. 2/5 of your stipend going to rent isn’t ideal but its hardly unheard of for grad students in expensive cities.
  19. Also hoping we hear from them soon. It would be crazy if we've already seen all the Northwestern grad cafe acceptances
