Since UNC's placement has been brought up, does anyone know where to find a detailed version like that many other programs post (alumni name, where they work know, maybe where they placed initially/advisor/subfield/etc)? I found the list of recent placement institutions on their website but can't find anything more helpful/detailed.

I’d be surprised if anyone had a NW rejection. Acceptances usually come in batches but rejections seem to come late and all at once.

A few days ago someone on here said to expect NW in a few weeks. From 2 cycles ago, the NW process was (notoriously) disorganized and incommunicative. They typically release a batch of acceptances and then ghost everyone else for a few months before updating portals with rejections.

Just got an email rejection from UW-Madison. They said theyve “completed their work for the 2023 entering class”.

Received the official email from Ohio State where they say they have a “quirky” funding process. Anyone know anything more about this?

Havent updated our gradcafe survey results but I’ve also been accepted on the Ohio State portal (AP). Hoping for an email confirming soon.

Princeton acceptances on the survey board here usually get trolled. Im not sure i trust any of the historical info about when they get posted.

Don’t read too much into interviews. Some programs interview all admits, some interview for particular subfields, some interview only a couple admits, and sometimes only a couple professors like to interview applicants. https://www.martindevaux.com/2020/11/political-science-phd-admission-decisions/ This tool can be handy for checking when/if interviews occur. Doesn’t look like Penn state is a habitual interviewer. Don’t worry!

The longer we go without results makes me think this application cohort is smaller than expected. Anyone else feel the same way? I expected a rather large cohort as one DGS told me they weren't as active trying to drum up applications because they were already anticipating a large cohort. Anyone hear anything from programs about cohort size?

I've heard from a couple DGS that they want a complete profile from everyone as of the application deadline and after that considering new developments creates some inequity between applicants. Because of that they will refuse to consider new application materials.

Seems like the rankings stayed stable for a lot of programs. Any surprises for those of you that are more in touch with the discipline?

Yes! Plenty of posters here are in IR and you can find results, advice, etc. on this forum.

I totally and completely agree with you but this thread will be useful for those people that aren’t interested in quant methods. They may be looking for programs with more diversity in their methods departments and that’s valid.

I haven’t heard anything back. I imagine with the acceptances and waitlists posted here a while ago - and that we’re well behind the timeline they gave us for admissions - we’re waiting for rejections.

What are the schools that seem to have just missed the AP subfield list?
