  1. So, I asked a prof for advice about what to do during this year that I prepare to apply again end of this year, and she suggested I get more clinical experience and network with professors I am interested in working with. Good advice, but I do not know how to do this. I spent a year after graduating trying to get clinical experience, but they all want previous clinical experience. I know I can volunteer somewhere, but I'm worried that won't give me the hours I need by next application cycle? I also can't really afford to just volunteer so many hours a week without getting paid... I also do not know how to reach out to profs I have no previous connection with. This is mostly due to anxiety that I will say something wrong or come across as annoying and ruin all my chances. Any advice on either of these dilemmas? I guess additionally, for both PsyD and PhD programs, how much clinical experience do we need? Thank you all for any insight!!!!
  2. Yeah, I applied to mostly PhDs and only Rutgers PsyD because I was worried about money, so I get you. But now I'm questioning if I even really do want to do research. So now I'm off to find more clinical experience... And study my butt off for the GREs again.
  3. Hey, you never know!!! This is my second time applying to it, so I'm right there with you. It's not over until it's over. And as much as I hate everyone who has been telling me this for the past few weeks, there's always next year. (I just really do hope it's this year - for all of us.)
  4. Unfortunately, they did not mention anything about when we might hear back. I could ask, but I do not want to be too much of a bother. I'm not entirely certain about their level of involvement in the process or if this is just information that was passed around in the department. I know this info sucks, but it at least motivated me to apply for some jobs since the chances are so slim and Rutgers was my last hope.
  5. They work in both departments, and I mentioned I applied to the PsyD while asking for some career advice, and they told me it was an extremely competitive year and then dropped that bomb.
  6. I was told today that Rutgers PsyD got over 1,000 applications when they usually get around 400 ?
  7. I asked an acquaintance who is at Rutgers PsyD now and she said she got her email about an interview on Jan 30th. However, this was 3 years ago. I assume similar timelines though, and I think they usually have their interviews around the same time each year.
  8. I don't, sorry! I will update everyone if I do get any insider info, though! I would assume the last week of January or maybe even next week since interviews are the 15th.
  9. Masters of Applied Psychology. No licensure afterwards, so not a good option if you want that. An okay opportunity if you want research, but only if your interests align well. However, if you want to do ABA, I think it's a good option from what I have heard.
  10. This is my second year applying to Rutgers clinical PsyD, and I got a rejection email last time on February 19th. I also just want to say that if you get rejected and are offered to interview for the MAP program... Don't do it...
  11. 1) Has anyone heard from South Alabama or Suffolk yet? I saw a few people comment a while ago about USA, but I'm getting antsy... 2) Does anyone else see the highly qualified people getting rejected and worry they are severely under qualified... This is my second round applying after getting differed to a MA program in 2019, and I'm beginning to worry the debt and extra degree wasn't worth it...
