Has anyone else's application changed status? I'm still at "Preliminary Review Required" even though many were further ahead in previous years.

Have you checked Carleton Central as well, or is that just for Carleton 360?

Does the NPSIA admittance process seem inconsistent with previous years to anyone else? It just seems sort of odd that they're doing this in a staggered fashion, rather than previous years where it seems like they sent a significant amount out in bulk over 1-2 days. 
Regardless, it is reassuring to see people in this forum get their acceptance emails! 

Hey all, long time lurker here.
I got accepted to NPSIA today! I've always wished folks would post more info on here, so here are my full details.
 
The process:
Applied in mid-Jan.
"Recommended for assessment" for a long-ass time, I don't remember.
"Review in progress by department" for two or three weeks.
My specialization was updated from "N/A" to "Health, Displacement, and Humanitarian Policy" this morning.
Shortly after my file updated to "Review in progress by faculty of post-graduate affairs".
Then I got an email saying my application was approved in the late afternoon. So I logged into Carleton Central and freaked the hell out because my file said "application withdrawn". But then five minutes later a new file was created with my chosen specialization in the file name. So just a quick scare. 
 
My stats:
Geography major, history minor, concentration in Resources, Economy, and the Environment with Honours Thesis and Coop.
3.81 GPA on a 4.33 scale. My last couple of semesters were higher and I did very well on the economics required courses.
Two years experience working in climate policy at Environment Canada. One year experience working at Global Affairs Canada in trade negotiations. These both started on a coop student basis and extended into casual contracts. Everyone has strengths in their application, the work experience component was likely my strength.
Not much noteworthy travel experience or research other than my honours thesis.
Volunteer experience is just stuff in my local community.
Rudimentary skill in French.
My reference letters were okay, one was a prof who didn't know me very well but I did well in his class, the other supervised my Honours Thesis.
 
This is the kind of post I've always wanted others to do in these forums when lurking last year and the year before, so I felt obliged to do one myself.

Hopefully we all do, sooner rather than later! That's so strange that your application wasn't one of the first to be admitted though - I would assume the opposite, but at least its kind of a "been there before" situation for you ?

100% agree. I re-submitted an application this year as I had to postponed my previous one last year so I can confirm. 
 
I got an acceptance last year around February 28 at the same time as most 1st round applicants I believe.
I reapplied this year and I am still waiting for news from them! It's getting kinda long, especially since they seem to admit people every day for the past 3 weeks? hope I will get similar results ...

Got my NPSIA acceptance + several scholarships
Stats: 10.48/12 GPA (Carleton scale), two years of federal work experience (one year in a niche security policy area), no research experience.

Just got my acceptance to NPSIA with my first choice stream. Best of luck to those who are waiting!

My specialization choice just changed in Carleton Central, when it was just N/A and "Review in Progress by Department". I think we're finally getting closer to hearing a decision! 

Got accepted to NPSIA yesterday! If it’s helpful for anyone, my application changed to « recommended for assessment » last week, it’s still sitting at recommended for assessment but i received my offer, so I wouldn’t be too obsessive over what your application status says in Carleton central. 

Not that I applied to Munk (NPSIA only), but these night-time acceptances have officially validated my obsession with checking Carleton Central every hour. 

I'm a domestic student still waiting on Munk and NPSIA. I'm hoping we find out this week!!!!

Oooookay, this upcoming week should be THE ONE!  They can't do this us any longer, hahaha

Munk's been pretty late with admissions this year. The wait is killing ?

My Carleton 360 account does, but not Carleton Central - which says "recommended for assessment"
Also, for those of you anxious about being on "Preliminary Review Required" I received this:
"At this time, we are aiming to complete the first-round of admission offers by the end of March (or possibly into April), as we received a very high volume of application files this year."
 
So - mixed feelings about that, as its bound to be more competitive, but also reassuring since it appears that they're about a month behind.

Join the party lol!!   I'm also at "Review in progress by department". 
The anxiety is brutal but we're all smart and based off broader trends for the higher-ed industry, this is a particularly competitive year which is important to keep in mind to avoid being too hard on ourselves.  

Hello - just joined this forum and glad to find it as I have been nervously awaiting the results alone! I have applied to NPSIA for the PhD program starting in the fall. My application status is "Review in progress by department" for now. Hope to hear good news soon for myself and for all others here as well.

For those of you concerned about the stages, this is a reply I got when e-mailing admissions:
"Good afternoon,
 
Thanks for reaching out. I can confirm that at this time, your file is currently under preliminary review. When a file is being reviewed, the status may not always change to say “Review In Progress”, and some applicants may find that their application moves from “Preliminary Review Required” straight to to “Recommended for Assessment”.
 
Please feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions or concerns."

Who else is at that point where the weekend no longer excites you and you look forward to the week instead because you know schools will be sending out decisions lol

I emailed Lauren and she said they would be sending out offers throughout all of March so not quite over yet!!

Exactly my situation. Have logged on to carleton central 1 million times. Lol
