Any updates on any acceptance? I got accepted into one school and they said the dean will discuss funding once the semester settles in.
 
Does anyone knows what that means?
 

If they haven’t asked you to respond about your decision, that means you don’t need to respond to your acceptance yet. However, you want to know if you will still be considered after April 15 and if they are still accepting new applications for this fall.

I would say unless they ask you to respond before April 15th, you won't need to give them an answer. Otherwise, although you are offered with admission but not with funding, and you won't be able to self-fund (which you shouldn't and they should not recommend that), you will just need to hear back from the waitlist consideration after April 15 but before the fall semester starts, usually known as second round.

No. For those who are currently waitlisted, they won't need to respond because there is no spot in the cohort right now. The purpose of waitlist is for the program to recruit new students when the primary candidates that the program both admitted and funded cannot and will not satisfy the expectation of the admission for that year. Sometimes, none of the waitlisted applicants would be able to enter the program because the waitlist was never given consideration due to the satisfaction of the primary/ first-round admission (usually with funding). April 15 is commonly seen as the deadline for people who are accepted for the first round with funding and other benefits to decide, but often, the program might still accept new applicants doing the summer. For this year, I am not sure how covid might affect this process because it seems many programs have many more applicants than they expected.

I don't think it will make a difference right now no matter how you contact them because there is no spot available for new considerations at least until 15th. After 15th, you can contact the head of the program and copy your PIs for this inquiry. Also, you want to ask when they will stop considering new admissions for Fall 2021 this year. In addition, you can ask them about any suggestions for the future application. Good luck!

I think sometimes, they will even inform you after April 15th because this data was intended for funded students to make their mind. However, the admission may even run through summer.

Hey everyone, I have a question for you. I have been waitlisted for funding. However, I contacted the school three days ago and they said no movement on their waitlist yet. If a spot opens up for funding will they inform before April 15th or on April 15th?

I realize I haven't updated y'all. I accepted a spot at CU Boulder. I took a short visit up to Boulder a couple weeks ago and fell in love. I got to meet with other grad students and faculty and walk around the campus. Very excited but sad to leave Fort Worth.

So, today I got rejected CU Boulder, after being pushed for weeks to wait for a decision. I am not surprised though. I have one school left which is Florida State but I also have low hopes, they pushed the decision dates till April. Interviews where supposed to be out by the end of Feb/March, but now they are saying they in the middle of rolling admission process. So, I do not know if I will get an interview or maybe there is no interview anymore?
Bitter/sweet news is that I got accepted to Arizona State for PhD in Comm. However, I have been waitlisted for funding. I contacted the school today regarding updates on the TA waitlist and they send that no one has even responded on whether they will accept their offers or not. They have till April 15 to make a decision.

Hey there! I called the department coordinator and he answered. He was shocked to hear my name because their phones has been suspended or something. Then he told me that the decision will be out by the end of the month. I emailed him again and emailed the graduate department two days ago but no response

I am in a similar situation (radio silence from the U of Florida!!) If I were you, I would wait until eary next next to shoot the department chair or the coordinator an email for your application status.. I personally would feel more comforbale emailing DGS or the coordinator since PhD admission status might be an administrative issue..

So, yesterday I received two more rejections - Uni of Toronto and Northwestern. It's looking like I'm going to go to accept Temple's offer ? Good luck everyone! 

I think they are still in the process and you still get chance to be invited for interview.

Best advise is just to wait. They will give you an update when they have one.

I was just about to ask the same thing! I have heard nothing from CU Boulder's Media Studies Phd program I applied to, though I saw in the results page that someone was accepted last week. I have not heard anything about interviews either, nor do I know if they even had interviews. I'm nervous having not heard anything...

Admissions Update: I got into Rutgers!!
Rutgers was the only school I applied to so I was nervous waiting to hear back. I am relieved that I was accepted and can't wait for recruitment day in March. Has anyone else committed to Rutgers? Let me know

I can't attend anymore I have to catch up on all the work i've been putting off while I was waiting to hear back. Please keep us updated! I will be paying attention to the thread to see what happens with AZ.
