  1. Wow, thank you so much! That is absolutely wildd news to me. I accepted their offer and declined Tyler and BU, but I really hope they have more spots and that you get in too
  2. Hi, yes I was accepted on March 8th after interviewing in February.
  3. Committed to University of Massachussets this morning
  4. Anyone else not hear back from Tyler yet? I've seen that both acceptances and rejections have gone out to certain people
  5. Also since a ton of people are waiting on Tyler and you seem to be the first to have heard back, would you mind sharing your major and how/when they got in contact with you (email, portal, phone, etc.)?
  6. Hi! I am similarly stuck between UMass Amherst and BU (still waiting on Tyler, but I spoke to a current student yesterday and don't think I'd be happy there after all). To me, UMass feels like the smart choice because of the fantastic funding and stipend, but I'm not sure if the right/responsible choice is ultimately the best choice (does that make sense?). UMass would have much more of an impact on a teaching career since it is a three year program structured to build professors, but less on studio development since it is so far removed from any gallery scene. BU on the other hand would have much more of an impact on my art making and potential path as a maker/showing type artist but that's obviously a gamble and an entirely different lifestyle. Tyler (sculpture) is much more theory based with a lot of time spent reading and developing your mind, but Philadelphia as a whole has A LOT going on and Tyler artists have a lot of pull in the gallery culture around here. Feel free to PM me if you want to chat with someone in a similar position
  7. I did, but they do ask for proof so make sure that you don't embellish or lie at all!
  8. Eeek! They are going to reevaluate my package, FINGERS CROSSED!!!
  9. Yes to all of that!! Also making sure that your written components are incredibly tight can show that you are able to find the language to define yourself as an artist in conjunction with your work. I tinkered with my artist statement for a year and a half to really get the specificity that I needed, and I also refined my description blubs for several months to make sure that they were pulling their weight. In each of my interviews I was complimented on the strength of my writing skills which helped me take a risk in disclosing the presence of my learning disabilities as a major subject for the art that I make without fearing that it would work against me. A solid statement is often what can push a portfolio into the accepted category if they have slight reservations about your body of work. pro tip- keep a working log of description blurbs in a document to pull from because you cannot always go back and access what you wrote after you have applied!
  10. I think people definitely do when they have heard from all of their choices and they have made a deliberate decision-- I think it gets a bit murky if they were never formally rejected from a few places and they are still holding out hope so they wait until the last minute to pick from their available options.
  11. Has anyone been officially rejected from VCU (sculpture)? Also can I ask how they reached out to those of you who were invited to interview/accepted-- email, portal, phone, etc?
  12. Does anyone have a template for politely countering an offer?
  13. Accepted to UMass Amherst (3 year program)!! They waved tuition and offered me a teaching assistantship with a stipend and health/dental insurance covered
  14. Congratulations!!!!!! That's SO exciting
  15. Congratulations!!! That is so exciting, I'm thrilled for you
