  1. Two responses today ! UCLA rejection / UF waitlist ! It sounded like a funding limitation at UF, so I'm hoping something opens up for me. Otherwise, looking like it's UPenn right now
  2. Thank you for sharing your update, but sorry for your rejection! I think you're right about being late and on different timelines. Was the rejection just a portal update, or also an email? I had seen a hit on my website from Gainesville around Feb 21st, assuming that's when they viewed my application, but that's almost a month ago lol. Not sure at this point if there's still a chance for interview..
  3. Hi KougamiAkane, did you wind up hearing from UF? I've still not heard anything, and nothing in the portal // sculpture applicant.
  4. Hi CactusWren22, I meant to ask you. When you heard last Monday about Penn, was it by a phone call? I just spoke with someone else who asked what faculty called me to deliver my acceptance, but I only found out via the portal on Thursday. I didn't have any missed voicemails, but am paranoid I missed a call somehow.
  5. Nice! I just kept getting email reminders to check at 12pm EST on March 10th, which I mistakenly thought meant I didn't get in. I applied for Sculpture. Also nothing from UCLA, but I know what that means. Do you think you will be considering Penn?
  6. Congrats on being waitlisted though, people certainly get in off the waitlist. A spot could open up! And sure, here's my list: UChicago ~ rejected (interviewed/waitlisted last year; nothing this year) Yale ~ rejected with encouragement to reapply UPenn ~ interviewed; accepted UCLA ~ nothing VCU ~ nothing UArk ~ nothing U of Florida ~ nothing
  7. Oof.. I guess that means they offered me nothing. lol. My list financial aid only includes the Federal Loans I can get through FAFSA. Did yours include more than that?
  8. Just received acceptance to UPenn! ? My first and only acceptance of 7 applications. Anyone else receive acceptance--my letter had no mention of scholarship or financial support beyond what FAFSA qualifies me for (Federal Direct, Federal Work Study, Federal Grad Plus), so wondering if anyone else's did?
  9. hello sculptors !! ~ will post my results below, but like a few of you, have not heard back from several and assuming rejection. DoVA @ UChicago ~ rejection (interviewed/waitlisted last year with strong interest; no interview this year, so that hurt haha) Yale ~ rejection with encouragement to develop more & reapply UPenn ~ interviewed; notices will post at 12pm on March 10th UCLA ~ nothing VCU ~ nothing UArk ~ nothing U of Florida ~ nothing
  10. Oh! Did they extend it? When I applied the deadline was Feb 1.
  11. Oh no! Do you mean they sent out interview emails already? I applied in Sculpture, what about you?
  12. I applied and have not heard anything. Did you receive an interview?
  13. Yes, I hope you receive some good news soon too! I applied to VCU last year, and the process was... lol. I actually never received a notification even after the April 15 decision deadline, and I had to email the department. Some time in late May I received an email apology and a copy of my rejection letter. They didn't send me an email notice, and it seems they don't do portal updates. If you're rejected, it goes out by mail, I think in mid-March. I applied early this year before the first January 15 deadline, but I remember by this time last year they had been doing sculpture interviews, so, ehh... I'm sad Guadalupe Maravilla is not on faculty there this year. UCLA, I'm applying to for the first time.
  14. Anyone on here apply in Sculpture for VCU, UArk, or UCLA and hear back?
  15. Hope it well for you! I've not heard from UCLA Sculpture yet, and I don't think I've seen anyone on here say they have yet either.
  16. I interviewed last year, and they asked me about how I've been able to continue my practice since undergrad (I've been out of school since 2013), where my work fits in terms of genre (my work had changed and bounced around a bit within a 2 year span), they asked about scale and how I would work with scale in school (some of my work was large, I think this was a practical space question), and there were two questions specific to things I wrote about in my statement. I appreciated that all of the questions were specific to me. So, I think the only way you could really prepare is to study your own statement, be confident in yourself, and know why you're applying there and now. I had Pope.L and Catherine Sullivan, plus a grad student. I was naturally nervous but it was really pleasant. I had a very nice application experience there, and if you have any questions or concerns, Alison is extremely sweet and kind and helpful. I wish you the best and fingers crossed they make you an offer!!
  17. UPenn interview, Yale rejection (with memo they'd like to see me reapply with more development). Applied in sculpture, waiting on a few more..
  18. hello ~ i work on staff at a university and can share that applications SURGED (2x) last year, and this year they dropped back down to our usual average. so it might be more like we're back to applying with the standard amount of competition. last year was intense -- more applicants and less spots due to covid-related deferments (depending on where you applied). i've come to understand that it's pretty typical during economic recessions or uncertainty for people to go back to school. i would guess that normalcy seemed more achievable prior to Omicron hitting in December, and maybe less people were looking to apply this year? either way, all we can really do is put our best work forward, be confident, and cross our fingers. haha
  19. Oh awesome! I'm in Philly now and know some of the faculty there & many alum. I'm waitlisted at DoVA @ UChicago, so this might not be my year and that's okay. If you want any info on the area, art scene, etc I'm happy to share! Feel free to DM
  20. Ah, yeah, I emailed two weeks ago and no reply. Congrats on your acceptance! Where to?
  21. we're def rejected right? this is so odd.
  22. sorry u have had the same experience, but comforted to not be alone lol. i work at a university in the field and i'm perplexed by the communication void.. we're not the most on top of our deadlines, but we still sent out the rejections when we sent out the offers & waitlists lol.
  23. @salad did you wind up getting any kind of communication from VCU? now that it's officially the end of the month, i'm wondering why i didn't even receive the rejection notice yet lol.
