From industry side, I currently work as a senior DS at a FAANG, and I work with many research scientists who‘ve earned PhDs from 60-80. Certainly there are also some from top programs like Harvard or Stanford but those are usually phds in humanities.
I saw some people got rejections from UW today. I got the “your application is still under review” a few weeks ago but haven’t heard back, reject or accept. Does anyone know what this might mean? I have other programs to commit to but UW is my first choice! Help!
Interested in Bayesian and ML especially with application to climate science with hopes of tenure tracking after PhD. Currently deciding between UCLA or Michigan and praying to the lord above to hear back from Washington.
Advice? Perspectives? Reapply? Anything is welcome. Thank you!
@Stat Assistant Professor I’ve seen you post a lot of great insights on here. Can you speak about UCLA as a program for someone who is interested in academia in the future?
