Current uoft student! They do not offer scholarships at admission. However based on your marks, you may receive an award in September (between 1-4k). We also have an internal awards application in October where you can receive scholarships, but those are granted in February of the academic year.

The number of advanced standing spots for each stream depends on how many first years in the 2 year program register for each stream. In my cohort MH&H is the most popular stream, while Gerontology seems to be least popular. So there are significantly fewer spots for the advanced standing MH&H compared to other streams.

Everything was online daring the pandemic. I'm a current student and we are back in-person for all classes.

Late March/early April! Last year I found out on March 23. I checked my Acorn and had the red $500 deposit required on my dashboard. SGS portal was updated a week later.

It's great you're getting a head start on your apps! Re: length, the length of your personal statement will depend on each individual program's requirement. Ex. For UofT's personal statement, we were required to answer 5 questions, with a limit of 400 words per question.

Honestly it's just an assumption on my part considering the timing of the emails. I assume if it was a straight rejection, we would have been notified earlier vs. Being notified the same day the program was filled. But either way I was pretty disappointed with the MSWwp application process. I read last year's thread and another poster applied for the MSWwp in April, then received an acceptance 2-3 weeks later lol. It seems like they weren't prepared for the number of apps they received this year.

Just got an email from Windsor re the MSWwp program being full. Find it a bit silly they weren't able to review my application in time considering I submitted in January...

Hey! I also applied to this program, still waiting to find out my result. My references were my current supervisor (director of the lab/clinic I work at as an RA), a supervisor from the crisis text line I volunteer with, and a psychology professor.

Waitlist offers will go out until September, and then the waitlist closes after the first week of classes. I read from previous years that they tend to ramp up in the summer. I know a couple of people who got off the waitlist around August.

Has anyone heard about UWindsor MSWwp? My in-process date was January 13, so going on 15 weeks now. I accepted UofT already so it doesn't really matter for me, but I'm still curious to get the results! They originally said it would take 6-8 weeks to hear back ?

I emailed Windsor today to get an update on my MSWwp application (in process on January 13), here is their reply: Thank you for your email. Your application is in the final stages of the admission process. At this time, the Office of Graduate Studies is dealing with a large volume of files which has caused delays in our processing timeline and do not have an estimate when the applicants will be notified. When an admission decision is made, it will be notified to you by email. Thank you for your patience.

More experience is never a bad thing. From my experience I've seen several successful non-BSW applicants who also completed a SSW diploma or something similar. It shows the admissions committee your interest in social work and your dedication to learning. A SSW may open up new volunteering/work opportunities for you as well. If you go the route of a diploma, I would recommend choosing something you are genuinely interested in. And, if you get accepted to the York program or get off the waitlist for UofT, you can just withdraw your place in the SSW program. Feel free to correct me if you are already doing this, but have you considered volunteering for a distress line/crisis intervention service? My connection at UofT said that my >1500 hours on the crisis text line was more than enough on its own to make my application competitive. This is a great way to gain direct client experience and teaches you crisis intervention skills. The Kids Help Phone crisis text line is also pretty flexible, you do it from home on your computer and you can do your hours at any time (they ask for a minimim of 4 hours/week for the first year). Relatedly, my UofT connect told me it's easier to get into the advanced standing MSW vs. 2-year MSW at UofT, as there are fewer applicants.

I applied Jan 11, status changed Jan 13, nothing since then.

For those accepting UofT and have already uploaded their docs + paid their deposit, here is what Angela said: " You will not receive confirmation, as the information can be viewed on your end both in ACORN for the deposit and on the online application under the application documents."

I got accepted into UofT MSW (fourth attempt). UofT was my top choice because of location (I can't move super far from Toronto/want to keep my current job as part time during grad school), I know many UofT social workers who have great careers in my areas of interests, they have 5 streams which helps you specialize into your area of interest (I'm choosing Mental Health/Health), and they usually have great practicum placements available (esp. Clinical-focused placements). Overall UofT is very clinical-focused which is ideal for people who want to work in hospitals/practice in clinical settings and do therapy. Other schools have different foci like social justice, macro practice/policy, and others are more generalist. Forgot to add but another poster reminded me - this is one of the few programs that have a non-BSW program and they have a much bigger cohort (140 vs. 25-30).

I've been on the waitlist 3 times and they don't give any info, they are annoyingly very secretive about their process. You could email admissions but don't expect much info from them.

My status still says Submitted as well when I first log in. However it says I have a status update when I actually open the application.

Edit - Ok I went to double check and my package does not say that. It says to upload both as a Confirmation Form. I'm gonna err on the side of caution and upload it as an Additional Document.

I just asked a friend in the program and they said we will be invited to one, which will be in July.
