  1. Hi Kresen. I applied to the MEd program with Counselling specialization for start in 2021 and learned a little bit about the process, in case you're interested. FYI, acceptance rate was about 5% this year. They had over 700 applicants and only 35 spots available. It took them a lot longer to get back to us than they originally stated. I was ultimately rejected. I think applicants should just be aware that it's extremely difficult to get in before they apply. My sense is that being an honours student with good reference letters is not usually enough. I also wanted to post in this thread about something else. I just applied to the Adler (Toronto) Master in Psychology program. If anyone has been to that program, or knows someone who has been there, please let me know.
  2. Hi Ally. I just applied here. Did you end up applying?
  3. Wonder what's making them stagger out the rejection letters. I received an unofficial rejection from Todd but nothing from SGS yet.
  4. Oh, don't worry. He emailed some people up to like two weeks ago saying they would get their rejections "very soon." ...... lol.....
  5. Unofficially rejected. Same boiler plate email as other posters. Good luck to everyone on the waitlist. And good luck to all of you more generally.
  6. Gang, plz let us know if "official" rejections (or other) start rolling in. Xoxo
  7. Sorry I think I was mixing your program up with the Fundamentals of Addiction certificate at Durham
  8. Do you mind if I ask you how long the Durham Addiction/MH program is if you're fulltime? It seems like it might be a good thing for me to look into.
  9. Thanks. Maybe after I receive a response (rejection, I assume) from U of T, I will ask someone at Admissions how my application would have compared if it included either the CBT course or the continuing ed psych degree from Ryerson. I would like to become a psychotherapist more than anything right now, but I'm not sure it's feasible to commit to an additional degree without a really, really strong chance of acceptance in a psychotherapy program promptly after the degree's completion. It might just be time to do a teaching degree and go that route, although I feel pretty crappy more-or-less committing to a lifelong career that I am not over the moon about.
  10. I will probably work on my CV for a year and reapply. I don't come from a psychology or healthcare background, so my option for psychotherapeutic training are limited. Actually, this is probably a good time to ask... Does anyone have suggestions for students interested in psychotherapy, but lacking a psychology/healthcare background? I have a masters in English lit, and have spent the last two years teaching, plus some volunteering at the Distress Centre.
  11. Email them and just tell them u have another offer, I think. Apparently they'll give u the unofficial answer they're sitting on
  12. Email today from APHD Department: "Our OISE registrar’s office is processing application decisions at this time. I’m told all applicants should receive an email update within the next two weeks. If you are facing a deadline with another program offer, let us know and we can seek permission to release an unofficial application result via an alternate method." So, they have extended the timeline multiple times, all other schools have finalized decisions ages ago, and they HAVE finalized results for students, but it is going to take them TWO MORE WEEKS to send them. I'm so over it.
  13. When were you accepted, if you don't mind me asking? You might want to check if there is faculty in either program specializing in your modalities of interest. Additionally, you could always look into which city seems preferable to you.
  14. I think it's best to go about our lives as if we got a rejection. It's not as if most of our best decisions will change much for the next few months, regardless of their response. Let's be gentle with ourselves and remember that our lives have values and joys regardless of our position or lack thereof in the OISE APHD MEd OT GPP DD OO LAGKASJGAA program. xoxo ❤️
  15. To be fair, I think she probably knew the student's file had been carefully reviewed and was able to give a definitive answer. She might not know when the heck most of us will be considered
  16. Maybe the Psychology department is doing some experiments involving how human subjects respond to time delay stressors and we all opted in by accident
  17. If I understand correctly, the Psychotherapy stream (to become a counselor, not to study Psychology) does not have interviews
  18. I think the accepted student being American might have been the major factor. They needed time to ship physical transcripts if I understand correctly.
  19. I feel like they kind of owe us an explanation at this point. Especially that student who had to accept another offer because U of T was so slow. There needs to be a good reason for this kind of delay. I'm getting a little frustrated.
