Has anyone been rejected from UofT MPH Epi, like at all? Patiently waiting for second round offers to go out, and I’m high-key losing my mind
-
Has anyone received a rejection letter to UofT MPH Epi?

This sounds similar to my experience a few years back. My grades were horrible my first 3 years of undergrad (too much partying, unfocused). By year 4 I had an epiphany that if I didn’t get my sh*t together I wouldn’t qualify for many opportunities after graduation. I re-took 9 (NINE!) courses to qualify for Honours thesis work. I ended up getting high grades, a departmental excellence award, and making life-long connections with my profs during the last 2 years. And I graduated with an Honours thesis under my belt. My undergrad took a total of 6 years to complete. AND I took 6 more ‘medically-related’ courses at Athabsca after graduation. I was accepted to UBC and McGill this year. In my opinion, upgrading while still in university is a wise idea. Don’t stress about how long it takes you. Your path is yours, and yours alone. The discipline to extend school to upgrade shows maturity and tenacity. Focus on getting that upward trend (in grades or experience). You GOT this!

You can get the free trial of LinkedIn premium, and talk to current DLSPH students directly there. Premium allows you to search students and alumni based on specific school’s and programs (ex, UofT MPH Epi!). I’ve spoken to about 40 students and working professionals during my research of different MPH programs. It’s been incredibly helpful. Alternatively, the program director might be able to give you more info - especially if you’ve been accepted. They are paid to answer your questions

Congrats on getting in to two great programs! It feels good when things finally come together. I’m sure you worked very hard to get to this place. McGill’s program has fantastic exchange options in Melbourne, Australia, and Bordeaux, France, which excites me greatly. However, I’ll still choose UofT MPH Epi over McGill if I get accepted. Dalla Lana seems to have incredible reach on an international level. Personally, I’m more attracted at the hands on professional approach vs. research-intensive, but there are many jobs within public health that allow you to draw on skills in both. I actually did my undergrad at MUN. I don’t think you’ll be limited in your future career options by getting rejected from their program. If you want to keep in touch or chat further about options, DM me and I’ll send you my LinkedIn.

Just got into McGill MScPH! Deadline to accept is April 28. I accepted my offer at UBC already, but will be retracting my acceptance today. Hopefully that frees up a spot for another deserving applicant! Still waiting to hear back from UofT Epi (top choice, homegirl lives in Toronto). My order is UofT > McGill > UBC (rejected at McMaster already)

Does anyone know when the deadline to accept at McGill is? Also anyone know when UofT MPH Epi offers are expected to go out? I'm accepted for UBC's MPH, but still waiting to hear back from UofT and McGill.

I have a B.Sc.(Hons) in Chemistry from MUN. I did research in synthetic organic chemistry for 2 years and worked on developing a new polymer for coating biomedical implants. cGPA is 3.3, but 3.8 GPA across last 2 years of undergrad. I worked for Search & Rescue with the Coast Guard in BC for 4 summers throughout undergrad. Worked on natural disaster/emergency response projects in that role as well. I've been a clinical volunteer in a big hospital downtown Toronto for the past 3 years, taking additional med-related courses (X6, 4.0 GPA) on the side. Doing COVID screening in another large hospital now. Tons of experience in the trenches of customer service as well, mostly from bartending in the Toronto night-life industry (when the city isn't in lockdown lol). I'm 26 years old.

I was accepted into UBC's MPH yesterday (March 11th). Still waiting to hear back from UofT, McGill, and McMaster! I'm an Ontario resident, if that matters...? Idk. Deadline for my decision @ UBC is April 2nd.
