  1. I just got rejected from the York 2-Year MSW. I had competitive grades and thousands of hours of experience. Honestly just very over this whole process.
  2. From the York 2 year program? I'm just wondering because I haven't heard back. I'm also waitlisted for UofT and Western, hopefully we hear some good news soon!
  3. Also received my rejection from Laurier. I'm thinking it's because they're so research-focused while my statement and references were all focused on clinical ability. I wish I had found this out before applying (it would be nice to put it on their website....).
  4. I just wanted to validate you here, and also let you know your comment made me feel validated, because people have sometimes gotten angry with me for saying connections can get you into grad school. I had a friend who either barely met or was below (can't remember) the minimum GPA requirement of the grad program she was applying to (not a psych program), and only 1 relevant job. However there was someone at her job who was friends with a person on the admittance board for that grad program. After my friend hadn't heard from the grad program in months, she reached out to her connection, who called the friend on the admittance board, and the next day she got into the program. Unfortunately, it does happen.
  5. I totally feel the frustration. Second time being waitlisted as well, but like sofia this is the only career I want to pursue so I have to keep at it! Best of luck to you both, I hope we get some good news
  6. Yup, I've actually talked a lot with my therapist and other social workers, and they all agree the process is very frustrating, exclusionary and can be arbitrary/subjective. I'm super happy for everyone who got in, but I wish there were more spots and they were kinder to people who, for example, can't volunteer as much because they need to earn money, or had a bad school year due to mental health, etc.
  7. Just got waitlisted for the UofT 2 year MSW. This is my second year getting waitlisted and honestly, I'm hurt and surprised at the decision. I have almost exactly the same grade/amount of experience as someone who got in. I understand it's a lot of work for them to give individual feedback, but I really wish I knew what could've made the difference between me getting in or getting waitlisted.
  8. I'm in exactly the same situation with those 4 schools! Good luck to us both
  9. I made an account here yesterday to hopefully share updates but I haven't heard anything. I'm last initial K
