  1. Hey! Please keep the questions coming. We need to support one another with info! I’m not quite sure I understand the question. I did not mention any faculty in my application. From my understanding, the two faculty members who will conduct the interview are on the admissions committee.
  2. I have no idea how the interview requests work. The email didn't say much about the process itself like how many interviews or if it means that candidates made it to a next round. Nothing like that. It was from admissions linking me to two faculty members. Thank you! So many feels!
  3. Invited to an interview for the Harvard DrPH in the next week or two. Glad to have the chance of interviewing them.
  4. WOW!!!! Congratulations!!!! Are these for PhD or DrPH programs or both? I'm so excited for you!!!
  5. Nothing yet on my end. I know the schools I'm applying to aren't slated to send decisions for another 5-10 weeks, but I'm also not sure if these schools are doing interviews . . . Anyone hear anything from DrPH programs about interviews or acceptances? Curious like Lynn_ and Public Health grl.
  6. Yes! First time applying. I've contemplated the DrPH for 7 years or so even before I finished my MPH. Fingers crossed! I think the nervousness may grow come February, as the decisions approach. We shall see.
  7. I applied to all DrPH programs. Harvard, BU, yup! And Hopkins. Still working on my Tulane application which is due mid January. I'm not sure if 3-4 months of waiting will feel slow or go by quickly, but it will give me some time to think for sure. Good luck!
  8. Hey! I did a Kira assessment. It was sooooooooo hard for me. Unfortunately, when I did it recently, I was brewing what turned out to be violent gastroenteritis that I thought was just nausea because I was nervous. Haha. So I might have been throw off my game big time. Who knows! Anyway, the questions come fast, give you a bit of time to jot down info, and then it's game on. I found that I did not look at my notes at all, but I'm guessing they helped me form my responses. All in all, I walked away feeling like I did not put my best or worst foot forward and that I prefer live interviews where I can form a human connection. I did look awesome though, used the opportunity to dress fancy and get a haircut.
  9. Heya! DrPH applicant: JHPH Health Equity and Social Justice, Tulane, BU, Harvard. Nervous. Excited. Gathering my LoR writers now and having conversations with them. Doing my personal statements bit by bit. Anyone know anyone in these programs? Trying to discern how likely I am to get in anywhere based on my experience, academics, etc. Good luck to everyone!
  10. Hey! Awesome! I think the faculty component can be important. I have a friend who is doing her DrPH at Hopkins, and she has a (literally) world class faculty that she benefits from. I am certainly not saying other schools lack that component, but Hopkins definitely has it. As for Harvard, I think the same is true. I just spoke with a recent grad, and he was pretty stoked about his experience there. Lots of personalized attention. Not sure that helps.
  11. Hey, Chichuahua! Are you looking at PhD programs or DrPH programs? I don't know much about PhD programs, but I do know a bit about DrPH programs. I think the value and values depend on what you are looking for. Many DrPH programs are pretty similar to PhD programs. Is that what you are looking for? Harvard, for example, is not like a PhD program and neither is Johns Hopkins. They are both focused more on leadership and scholarship than research. Harvard has a cohort of 8-10 students, so it's based on forming a tight knit community with a collectivist learning model. Hopkins creates small concentration cohorts, but the program is remote, so the relationship development is largely online.
  12. So far, I'll apply to: JHSPH Social Justice Track Harvard BU We'll see what else I figure out about these programs. I'm more interested in a cohort model. Billowack, I'll be taking the GRE in September, likely. I took it twice before, and I realized the second time around that I had no more quant skills. So I'll have to dust off my old memories.
  13. Thanks, FuturePhDpls, for getting us started. I am popping myself into this thread to keep up the love and mutual support through this application process. I'm interested (so far) in the JHSPH, Harvard, BU, and GW programs. I'm sure I'll modify that list as time goes on especially with doubtlessly ensuing discussion. Powerliftingnerd, I have the same question. In addition, I want to know how important is/are: 1. BA GPA (as compared to MPH GPA and GRE scores and experience (claro)) 2. experience post-graduation. I am just finishing my MPH now, but I worked in public health for over a decade. Many thanks,
