Hi friends! From my experience last year, it seems like it may be rolling admissions as some people got their acceptances earlier in the year last year (February) and I got my rejection towards the end of April. But this year NYU has a new dean of DSW program so I'm not sure if they've changed their admissions process.

Hi! Does NYU have an online DSW program?

I’m at Tulane! So sorry, I didn’t get any notifications for this thread and it’s been an intense semester!

Tulane doesn’t have a formal dissertation like UPenn ? However, it is still a very research oriented program. Qualitative, Quantitative, Stats….  Lots of long nights, lots of papers… The goal is to publish! They are piloting CSWE accreditation and they don’t mess around. I’m learning more than I did in my Masters. We have a summer residency coming up.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi! Thanks for the information! Research is not my favorite but seems very necessary for any doctorate program. Are you glad you chose Tulane? The more I look into it, the more excited I get! Do you feel that the work is manageable (along with working full time) and that professors/fellow students are supportive?

Hi there! Congratulations!! That was so quick!! I was planning on applying for Tulane DSW for fall 2022... did I miss the deadline? I thought it was March 31st... but perhaps I'm wrong?

I think the biggest draw for me to apply for Tulane is that they're not as heavily research based as UPenn's is. Students are required to complete a clinical project (some students do opt to write a publication) at Tulane, while UPenn requires a dissertation...

Hi! Thank you! I don’t think it’s too late, it seems to be rolling admission where they let you know the decision about 4-6 weeks after applying until the class is full. It would be great if we end up in class together!

  4. Hi everyone, finally found out yesterday I was waitlisted at Penn. They said they are letting people know about any final decisions within the next 2 weeks, but my guess is not too many, if any, would decline their acceptance. Took them long enough to let me know! As much as I would have liked to have been accepted, I’m taking this as a win and hope to reapply next year. It seems like there are some other great schools out there to explore and I hope more and more schools decide to start a DSW program!

Primarily teaching in a school of social work with the possibly of training, continuing education, and/or consulting with local agencies. Also, I am interested in applied research - testing anti-stigma interventions, etc. The school* I work at now is part of a multi-disciplinary institute on addiction with opportunities to focus on education and anti-stigma efforts.

    * My program has a DSW but I am not eligible to apply because I am faculty...  I just recently double/triple checked.? It is quite common for faculty go over to the school of education instead. Same university but a different program is allowed. ? I am looking at other universities though because I want a different et experience.

That is so frustrating! You are so close to a DSW program and can’t even apply ? I think looking for at EdD is a great idea. There are definitely crossover topics and since you work will have an education component, I think it’s worth looking to. Also, I’m STILL waiting to hear Penn. Jeff keeps telling me they are still making decisions. Ugh.

Welcome! No updates on the ApplyWeb portal? I would check even if there isn’t an email. If there’s nothing there, you should reach out to Jeff!

I keep checking but no updates. When I look on the ApplyWeb portal, it just states “submitted” on my application page. Should I look somewhere else on the portal? Also, I emailed Jeff ?

  7. Hey everyone! I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s posts and it certainly helped feel less alone during this process. I’m still waiting to hear from UPenn and, since it seems like all of you have heard either way, I’m thinking they forgot about me ? Any idea on if they are still making decisions?
