  1. Just saw you post and I'm so happy for you! Hope your new journey is going great! My friend once saw a sentence on a pic of the Berlin Wall, it says "Escape is almighty method to destabilize dominionand". I really want you know that when I said I am happy you got this, I meant it. Wish you every good fortune, my friend.
  2. Thank you so much. Stand with you too❤️ Just saw your post and wish you all the best in the UK!
  3. Sadly no, even if my family can find a way out next year, the circumstance in China won't allow me to. The government is tightening policies for people who want to go out. So I'm kind of escaping from my homeland. I accepted the offer from UofManitoba, which also offers me an entrance scholarship. And the living cost in Winnipeg is lower too. It's upsetting that I have to decline UofT but tbh for an international applicant like me, the offer is more like a gift. I feel more confident that I have some qualities leading to me becoming a social worker in the future.
  4. I got off the UofT's 2-year MSW program(mental health stream) waitlist. But due to financial constraints of my family, I declined the offer(which is really hard for me). So there will be a sapce for other people now, finger crossed for those who are still waiting!
  5. waitlist for U of T, international applicant
  6. lol sorry I just found out that I missed a word! It's Manitoba!
  7. For those who also applied for Manitoba's MSW 2 years program, I received an offer from it! It's my first offer so I'm kind of excited about it
  8. Thanks for these information! May I ask why living in Alberta is embarrassing if you don't mind? Hahah though most of the universities I applied for are in Ontario, others are in Nova Scotia and Manitoba.
  9. Thank you for kindly sharing this! It is really helpful! Though I found from Indeed that social worker in Canada usually earn less than it, it is still good to know that what a BSW can lead to. I will keep your advice in mind and thanks again for your reply ❤️
  10. Thank you for your reply❤️ I know there are advanced stadning MSW programs but my situation is a little bit complicated. My mom, who provide me the money to study abroad, will not let me take another year in studying mostly because we don't have enough money. That's why I am in a dilemma: BSW spends more (around 10000 CA dollars a year than MSW for international student)with less pay, but relatively easy to apply for. It may helps me get out of here more quikily but I'm worried about if I could make a living with that pay(plus I have to pay my loan by then). Anyway, wish me lucky enough to receive a MSW offer. And thanks again for your kind reminding ; )
  11. Hi everyone, I'm an international applicant. To be honest my MSW application this year didn't turn out so well. I only got a waitlist letter til now though there are still three universities left without final decisions. And my only backup plan for MSW is the BSW of Dal. I know some of you guys already have a BSW degree in Canada so I'm wondering if anyone could kindly share some information about it. Like, will salaries be so different between BSW and MSW? Will it be a "waste" to gain a BSW degree instead of going for MSW? (A friend of mine who already completed her MSW in the USA told me I should go straight to MSW.) For my background, I have 2000h+ hours of volunteer/paid experience in the field of sex education and anti-gender-based violence, my GPA is 3.66/4.0. I know it is not as competitive as most of you guys especially I am still a graduating student. But I really need some advice on it since the situation in China is getting worse and worse. For people who don't know much about it: there is a bitter joke we know "the real social workers in China are in jail". So I need to get out of this place as soon as I can. Any advice would be great. Thanks so much for your time if you read here Hopefully I have a chance to meet you guys in Canada.
  12. I'm on the waitlist too! Fingers crossed for both of us.
  13. Thank you so much! I will definitely write an email to them! Finger crossed for me ?
  14. I quoted the one I saw on this forum before, so I was expecting I should receive their decision on March 8th at least but it seems the waiting game is still going on. I'm stressed out haha
  15. Anyone hear from dal these days? I thought they should inform us before March 8 but til now still nothing on my email and my portal. It is killing me?
