  1. Hey there! Also an international student applying to genetics programs. Thought I had a decent shot too and applied to some of the programs you did with no interview invites Rip. In my emails with them, seems like across the board, most biomed programs were INUNDATED with applicants this season with some receiving almost 2x the average # of applicants. Definitely in part due to COVID's effects on last year's cycle, and it seems that the competition was fierce this year while the available # of slots remained constant.
  2. To those asking who I contacted. I emailed David L. Van Vactor who is the directors of Harvard's BBS PhD program (https://bbsphd.hms.harvard.edu/people/david-l-van-vactor). You can email him using the address in the link.
  3. Varies by program. Some like Yale uploaded a status update on their admissions portal. Some like Harvard tend to send official rejections later but not receiving an interview invite is basically the same thing sadly ://
  4. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I just emailed the admissions director for Harvard's BBS program and he indicated that all interviews were already sent yesterday. Definitely bummed out but on to other things!
  5. Anyone hear from Weill Cornell?
  6. Hahaha feels bad man. Oh well, on to the others! Where are you waiting to hear back from?
  7. Received a big fat "R" from Yale BBS lel...
  8. Anyone receive invites from Yale's BBS program and in particular, from the MCGS track? Saw 2 new posts updated on the results page by international students! Crying inside :')
  9. Not sure about immuno. I applied to the MCGD track and haven't received any emails from them.
  10. Woohoo!!! Congrats
  11. Oh geez alrighty! Will keep a lookout for the email if it comes!!
  12. Oh wow, interesting! You must've been a stellar candidate for your professor to reach out to you before official invitations were sent!
  13. Congratulations!! Damn, so interview invites for MCDG were out already huh ? also applied to the MCDG track and haven't heard back anything yet.
  14. That's still a pretty good yield rate in terms of interview invites assuming that all 500 or so prospective candidates will be reviewed in the coming phase.
  15. Portals like the CAS system should send you an email notification if your transcripts were received. In any case, best to just email the admissions offices to double check.
  16. Nope nothing here yet! From my list, seems like Yale has historically been the first school to reach out sometime in December but not sure whether this cycle’s schedule has changed from covid.
  17. Asking here since the other forums are very quiet. Do you guys think as many people as last year have applied to this year's cycle? Last year's application numbers were absolutely insane and the resulting admissions rates tanked since way too many people applied. I had friends in Stanford working under PIs for a couple of years who couldn't even land interviews given the flood of applications that came in.
  18. Oh no no not at all. I'm heading into this admissions process with very low expectations given how competitive PhD programs are in general, yet alone for international students.
  19. School: 4 year liberal arts school with a major in life sciences GPA: 3.71 major gpa something like 3.95? Research: 1. 2 years biochem of aging lab (main lab i worked in) 2. 1 year in a genetics lab, 2 in a computational bio lab, 1 in a virology lab Pubs: 2 co-authored papers from the biochem lab and comp bio lab groups, best thesis award in major but not sure how much that matters haha Work experience: Health econs internships at 2 major big pharma companies, RA at a biotech company focused on monoclonal antibody treatment for flaviviruses, currently finishing up my military service requirements-such a treat GRE: 168Q, 166V, 6.0 W I’m really interested in aging and neurodegeneration research!
  20. What's up guys! International graduate here from a non-US college and I applied to biomedical science programs and just 1 neuroscience program early in November! Surprised to see how the 2022 application cycle forums are really quiet though. I applied to: 1. Harvard BBS and BPH 2. Yale BBS 3. Princeton MB 4. Stanford Biosciences 5. Weill Cornnell Neuroscience I applied to only heavy-hitting programs which was very very stupid in hindsight. There were certain personal factors at hand that caused me to only apply to the programs above. Doing my best to internalize that I may realistically receive no interview offers or acceptance haha.
