Not sure if this is the right place to ask but I couldn't find an answer anywhere else- but do y'all have any advice on what to wear to these in-person "accepted" student days ? it's not an interview anymore but I'm still going to be meeting with faculty that I may want to rotate with so I'm not exactly sure how "dressed up" I should get.....

I interviewed with them last Friday and Saturday but haven't heard anything back yet. They said the admissions committee was meeting sometime this week and they will send out official decisions sometime after that but I don't know much more, sorry to not be more helpful!

I wouldn't just yet, I was in the same situation a few weeks ago and I ended up getting accepted! I interviewed during the school's only interview session and saw someone post an acceptance a week later, I was pretty sad but about a week after that I got my acceptance letter. It seems like most places have rolling acceptances especially if the letters/calls are personalized because the faculty are so busy. Good luck to you and I hope you hear back soon!

Has anyone interviewing at Northwestern IBiS program this weekend Feb 6th-8th heard anything about the schedule yet? I had to last-minute change my interview date to this weekend so I am worried that some communications were lost, and I wanted to check on here first before I start bothering someone on the admissions committee ?

I had my first round of interviews last week, it ended up being 2 different PIs and 1 student and they all went much better than I anticipated! I was super super nervous since this was my top school, so the entire day I has having a ton of anxiety, heart racing, etc. but looking back I did not have that much to be nervous for. In the PI interviews we mostly talked about my previous research and I walked them through my overall goals of my research, my experimental setup, results, and what my research contributes to the field of neuroscience. There was a little time at the end for me to ask questions about their research, but since we spent a ton of time talking about my work I was only able to ask like 1 or 2 questions, so for the next round of interviews I'm working on keeping a better eye on the clock. The student interview was super chill, I talked a bit about my research again but then I got to ask questions on what the school community is like, how much support they have, how they like the school in general, so it was super helpful overall. I also got to talk about what I do outside of sciences (sports, art, music), which I think was important to say bc it shows you have a life outside of science and have outlets to deal with stress! You probably have heard this before but I can attest now that most professors aren't trying to grill you or ask you questions that you can't answer, they really just want to learn more about you and are excited to hear about all the cool things you've done! They would not have picked to interview you if they didn't believe you are a great scientist and could contribute amazing work to their school. Make sure to take care of yourself the night before any interview as well as the day of, drink a lot of water, eat some food, and do some breathing exercises if you're feeling especially nervous! (I certainly had to do a lot of deep breaths). You got this!!

I haven't heard anything from Univ of Chicago yet and nobody has posted on the results either

Northwestern IBiS interviews that were supposed to be in-person are now online in case anybody didn't see... I wonder if my other in-person interview at UT Austin will be moved to zoom now too? Is anyone else getting in-person interviews cancelled?

I'm sure they will understand! I feel like this probably happened to a lot of people because almost nothing goes to my spam folder, so I have no idea how it ended up there in the first place. Good luck to you!

I heard back from UT Austin (got an interview) on Dec 21st, but it went to my spam folder and I did not see it until Dec 31st when the admissions coordinator had to personally email me from a separate email because the deadline to sign up for interviews had passed (super embarrassing for me I know). Thankfully they were very kind and understanding and let me still sign up but if they hadn't emailed me again I would have totally missed it!! So I would check your spam folder ASAP, I feel like I am not starting off on the right foot with them already ?

UCLA is scheduled for me for January 23-24. Not sure if this is what everybody got invited to or if I was assigned though because the email says "Jan 23 - 24 session", but I hope this helps a bit! Good luck!
