  1. Hi! I'm doing my second round of applications but I'm only slightly less clueless than the first time ? where are you applying?
  2. Just a thread for anyone applying to Feminist/Women's/Gender/Sexuality Studies PhD programs for Fall 2023. We can share concerns, questions, support etc
  3. Hello All, I am started the Fall 23 app process and have decided to reapply to a program that rejected me last year. While they didn't give any feedback on my application, I'm pretty sure my SOP was part of the reason. Regardless, I'd love any advice for how to tackle an SOP to a school that you've previously been rejected from. Obviously, I'll be revising my research focus and updating it but should I talk about my previous application at all? How do I navigate a new app while being mindful of the past?
  4. Hey! I'm interested in gender and sexuality, sports studies, kinship, and migration. I'm looking at USF, Columbia, UMich, and then Emory for WGSS. Good luck to you!
  5. I decided to start this thread as I am beginning the process of applying to (mostly) Sociology PhD programs for Fall 2023!
  6. Hello! You seem so passionate and I'm excited for your journey. Definitely reach out to different faculty and students in the departments you may like and get a feel for what might best support the work you'd like to do. I'd always recommend an MA before a PhD because it is a shorter commitment and can give you the best indication of whether you want to even get a PhD. On a more specific note, the chair of WGS at the University of South Florida is a motherhood scholar and may be worth speaking to as least to provide some guidance. I wish you the best of luck!
  7. Hey! How is everyone doing? I'm still bouncing around between recruitment events and considering some important factors. Anyone else considered UMN?
  8. Trying to revive this thread. I am considering going to MN for my PhD and would love to know if any advice has changed the last couple of years.
  9. Maryland is still one I am holding out for. I plan to wait until the end of the month because I have recruitment events at other programs. I hope to hear from them one way or another. As for UW, I intend to relinquish my waitlist spot by the end of the week.
  10. Daily check of Rutgers portal showed my rejection. I knew it was coming but they couldn't even be bothered with an email or a full sentence. Good luck to everyone still waiting.
  11. Expecting a rejection from Rutgers too but definitely weird how long it's taking. Waiting on Maryland's waitlist to shift (fingers crossed). I hope you hear back soon and good luck to everyone.
  12. Hey, I got the actual contract offer to sign which I found slightly weird. The official admission letter hasn't come
  13. Thank you for sharing Kayla. Unsurprising at this point. Good luck to everyone still waiting on decisions.
  14. I'm also still waiting although I'm expecting a rejection at this point so it's not really factoring into my decision-making process. That secret waitlist isn't looking too likely ?
  15. Got waitlisted by UW today. Pretty deflated since I thought the interview went really well. But oh well. How's everyone else holding up?
