I don't know why I was so nervous to reach out to current students at the programs I'm considering! I finally worked up the courage to do it today and oh my god they are all so nice. If you are like me and have been procrastinating it out of anxiety, take the leap! It was so encouraging and really helped soothe my worries about so many different topics ❤️

I'm not going to continue to write to you after this because I find your attitude on this forum obnoxious and your comments are consistently unnecessary and unhelpful. But I will say I am a Middle English scholar. Take any one of Shakespeare's sonnets and position it against Chaucer, The Pearl Poet, William Langland, Julian of Norwich, etc — you'll see the difference.

Shakespeare didn't write in Middle English, so (assuming this is one of the troll's many usernames) please get down from your high horse and take a break already.

Is it typical to be asked not to post on social media about getting into a school? I got a call yesterday from a program letting me know I'd been accepted first off the waitlist, and at the end of the call they asked me to keep it under wraps. I'm super excited but feeling a little nervous about sharing news!

has anyone heard from Ole Miss about a poetry waitlist? I've only seen fiction posted on draft.

What exactly gives you the authority to tell others whether or not they will fail a test they aren't interested in "taking?" Obviously you must have been incredibly successful in your attempts to get into MFA programs if you have this much insight into the process. Clearly, you have been so successful that you can lecture other people. Does your work pass this New Yorker test? Are you now in a fully funded program? Or are you just trying your best as well? Tell me, if you were to teach at one of these fully funded programs would you be so condescending to your students?
