  1. Has anyone had this happen where your portal says "admitted" but you haven't received anything via email or mail from the department?
  2. I haven't heard anything yet, but according to their website, they don't send notifications until March.
  3. I know! I'm checking it constantly, too. Especially since there were a few acceptances and then nothing for the past 9 days!
  4. Thanks, Yancey. That's encouraging! I am thinking the key is to practice the Skype thing so it's not quite as awkward during the real thing.
  5. Oh wow! I would take that as a very positive sign. What a great connection to have.
  6. Did you just email him to set that up? Or were you invited for an interview?
  7. Has anyone else heard from UTD? The last posting on the results page is from Feb 3.
  8. I have been struggling with this as well, but like you said, it is very short notice for booking a flight and hotel less than 2 weeks out. Flights in particular get way more expensive once you pass the 2 week mark. Right now the only flight option even showing up for me is $1656 (I think I laughed out loud at that one). I hope that they will understand this and give Skype interviewees equal consideration.
  9. I have the same questions! I also received the interview invitation yesterday. Unfortunately I won't be able to travel there so will have to do the Skype option. I am curious how long the interviews are and also how many people get to this stage. Anyone have insight?
  10. I received an interview time already, and my application wasn't internally filed as complete until Jan 7 because of a GRE score issue. So I'm not sure the date you submitted makes a difference. From looking at last year's data, it does seem like they post the interview times over the course of a week or more. So try not to get too worried if you haven't seen it appear on your portal yet! (I know this is easier said than done.) Also, Emerson is closed again today due to snow, so they may be behind on the processing.
  11. Thanks for sharing that info! I was thinking they might be a bit behind schedule b/c of the snow-related closings recently, but I was hoping it would be this week. Ah well, at least now I won't be checking my portal incessantly anymore this week..
  12. I am assuming you are the one who posted on the results page that you got admitted (hope I'm not wrong about that). Congratulations! Do you happen to know the date that your file was complete with recommendations and everything? Also, did you submit a resume? I didn't see a place to upload a resume on the app.. I found it weird b/c all my other schools asked for one.
  13. That's so awful that they wouldn't even let you know! I'm really glad all of my schools (except 1) have status portals that I can check, or otherwise I'd go crazy trying to keep track of everything..
  14. Great news! Hoping we both hear back soon!
  15. Yes, the Galaxy Portal is different. It's where you can track the status of your application. A few days after I submitted, I received an email titled "Thanks for applying" with instructions on how to create a Net ID. The Net ID is what you use to log into the Galaxy Portal.
  16. The same thing happened to me. Once I submitted, the essay and transcript requirements popped up as incomplete on my overview page. When I click on the "essay" requirement, it says that I've already submitted an essay. I'm thinking those just show up automatically in case people forgot to upload their essay or transcripts. As long as your Galaxy portal is saying complete, I wouldn't worry about it.
  17. I'm in the same boat. I just submitted on Monday and have one rec letter missing. However, my application status on the Galaxy portal has already changed to "complete" ...have you found the same?
  18. Anyone here applying to UT Dallas? They have rolling admission, so I am wondering if they have started notifying already...
  19. Yes, you'll be able to add new essays. I was confused about this too.
  20. The only federal aid available to grad students are loans and work-study. You will get a guaranteed loan amount of $20,500 per academic year regardless of when you submit the FAFSA. For that reason, it doesn't really matter when you do it unless you really want a work-study position (most schools have limited if any positions for grad students). Assistantships/fellowships are based on merit, so you wouldn't need the FAFSA for that. I would say at least wait until you have your taxes done to submit it. As far as looking at your FAFSA for admissions decisions-- it's highly unlikely. Admissions and financial aid are in different departments, so admissions people don't look at your FAFSA. They would have to go digging around for it, and I doubt they would want to know *that* badly where else you applied.
  21. I'm applying to 8 schools.. 2 more apps left to finish. Is anyone else obsessively checking their application portals already even though it's not time to hear back yet? The next couple months will be tough..
  22. Does anyone know anything about this program? I am trying to decide whether to apply there, and I need to make the decision ASAP since the deadline is in 2 weeks. I am hesitating because I have read/heard it is medically focused, and I am more interested in working with kids and in the school setting. Anyone have insight into this school?
  23. My resume ended up being 1.5 pages long. I included prerequisite classes and clinical observation hours, so there was no way to get it into one page. Most of my schools have said 1-2 pages.
  24. @Chandru1 and @badgal92 How did you guys get fee waivers? Did you have to apply or were you selected somehow?
  25. Several of the programs I am applying to have expressed on their websites that they are looking for diversity. Many of them also have supplemental "diversity statements" that applicants can submit. So I think that shows they are aware of the lack of diversity and trying to do something about it! I'm a white female, but the lack of diversity makes me kind of uncomfortable, too... I'd rather be part of a cohort that is balanced in terms of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, etc than a bunch of people who all come from similar backgrounds.
