  1. I just got accepted to CU Boulder yesterday and am considering attending. I read something on Reddit's SLP forum about the program's administration being disorganized. Can any current or former students comment on this? It concerns me, but I also don't want to base any judgments on a couple people's opinions. I would love to hear any first-hand accounts about the program from students who attend. I'm also interested to hear about how clinical placements work at CU Boulder. Thanks in advance!
  2. Did you get any funding at Emerson? I really like Emerson, too. It seems like a very supportive and friendly environment, and a good program for clinical preparation. I also hope to work with kids and they are really strong for pediatrics. I also like the location of Emerson right in downtown. Boston U is attractive because it's a research university, and also because they have PT and OT as well as speech. I like the idea of the interdisciplinary rounds. I think I would also like the option of being involved in research and/or writing a thesis. I just got into CU Boulder yesterday, so now that is a third option I'm considering. I was actually really hoping to get into UNC because I see it as a mix of Emerson and BU strengths. UNC is a large research university, but they also seem to have a very supportive program and a strong pediatrics focus. They also have tons of placement options and will help you to find your placements. If you aren't able to make UNC's open house, I know they have some recordings on their website of past accepted student events which might be helpful to listen to if you need more information about them.
  3. I was admitted but am not sure if I'm going. Have you decided to attend?
  4. Just got an acceptance email from Boulder! k1772 - So jealous that you can get in state tuition! I wish I were from one of those states..
  5. Yup, I got it too... posted about it in the other thread. So confusing.. I'm just gonna assume they sent it to all applicants so as not to give myself any false hope!
  6. I just got an email from CU Boulder inviting me to an open house for accepted students... but I haven't been accepted. Anyone else get this?
  7. You're not alone! I still haven't heard. Last year they were accepting people way into April, so I wouldn't assume it means you're waitlisted.
  8. Honestly, I have no idea! And it's looking like I'm not going to be able to make the open houses, either, because flights are so expensive from where I live. I was initially more drawn to Emerson because of the supportive/friendly feel and the lower cost, but now I'm seeing more of the pros for BU as well. BU has more of a research focus and a smaller class size, which I think are pros for that program. Cost is now very comparable with the funding from BU. But I really don't know! They are both great, I think. I feel really lucky to have gotten in to both.
  9. Yep, the cost of living in Boston would definitely be an adjustment! I am most likely going to end up in Boston, just not sure which school. My top choices right now are BU and Emerson. I got some funding from BU, making them roughly the same cost. I'm still waiting to hear from MGH and CU Boulder. I feel like it's going to be a hard decision!
  10. Congrats on your acceptance! I haven't heard anything either way, and my portal still says "submitted." I'm guessing that they might wait a few days to update the portals because they want to make phone calls to the accepted students first. Did they say anything about funding during your call?
  11. Thanks for sharing! Congrats again! Have you decided if you will attend?
  12. Sorry for all the questions, but could you share your GPA and GRE?
  13. Congrats!! Any idea what time your portal was updated?
  14. Does anyone know the total cost of the program?
  15. Wow!! Congratulations, neucool. That's great! My fellowship section is still empty for the time being. Hoping for the best...
  16. Just got an email acceptance 20 mins ago! Woohoo! Good luck all, hope you get good news today!!
  17. They said 2 weeks, but for the sake of all our sanity, I really hope they didn't mean Friday March 6th!
  18. Is anyone else still waiting to hear back from Northeastern? It seems like they started sending out notifications a lot earlier this year than in the past. Hoping they're not done sending acceptances! Also, phaedra- I'm surprised to hear that NU students would get preference for placements over students in other Boston programs. My feeling was (similar to yours) that NU was the lowest ranked of the 4 and not as highly esteemed. Obviously this could be wrong, but that's just the impression I've gotten from this forum. Someone in a past thread also mentioned that NU is the only Boston school that requires students to have a car for placements. Anyone have more insight on Northeastern?
  19. Reviving this thread to seek more opinions on the UM Twin Cities program! Any current students on this board?
  20. Welp, just got my rejection email. It was an email telling me to check my app portal where the decision was posted. The rejection letter specifically mentioned research interests, so that may have been a factor since I didn't discuss research at all in my SOP. I also get the feeling they take a lot of their own undergrads. I listened to last year's accepted students event via lecture capture, and when they went around the room, many students were current UNC undergrads. Also, all except one were current undergrad students, and I have been out of school for several years. Just guessing that these may have contributed. Disappointing for sure, but I'm happy to have gotten in to some other great programs. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear!
  21. Chandru1, congratulations on your acceptance and scholarship! That's fantastic. Glad to hear they finally got your transcripts sorted out! Did they offer you an in-state tuition waiver, or was your scholarship something else? Also, was it offered in the email body or the attached letter? The reason I ask is because I haven't actually received an email from Dr. Stillman yet although I was admitted a few weeks ago. I have only received a letter in the mail. I am just wondering if there's a chance of still getting funding or not. Thanks!
  22. Mine was over Skype this past Sunday.
  23. Yeah, I'm starting to think a waitlist is the best case scenario right now. Either way, I just want to know my decision.
  24. SLA, when did you get the notification? I still haven't heard anything..
  25. Thanks for the info. Hopefully my Northeastern decision will arrive soon. Your stats are awesome! Hope you get good news from Emerson today!
