Well friends I think that’s the unofficial end of this admissions round for me. I didn’t get any interviews, got my rejections from Windsor last week, and reached out to my POI at USask to ask if I was still in the running and I am not. I think it’s safe to say I didn’t get in at UVic or McMaster as I haven’t heard anything from them. This is my first cycle applying, last year I got rejected from social work, I knew it was dumb to get my hopes up and apply but I’m still crushed. I don’t really feel anything yet but I’m sure it will hit me soon. Good luck to everyone wishing you fantastic studies ???

I believe acceptances have gone out already. Tuition is CRAZY high for that program which deterred me from applying so I would be curious to hear how people who did get in are going to fund it

You should hear around March 5-10! They forwarded all the top candidates but they have some behind the scenes stuff to finish before word is sent out.

So apparently AK at McGill sent out interview invites last week, and forwarded the top candidates today, but I've literally not heard of anything from any other profs from McGill here or on the discord... are only some profs interviewing? I have no idea what McGill is doing this year because nobody has said anything in the results page or forums and I find that very strange

Thinking about the people on this forum. Most of you are so over qualified (like triple or quadtruple the basic requirements) for the positions applied. I wondered how graduate programs evaluate who to take and who not to take.
It's kinda painful waiting for the result. I thought I was a strong candidate coming in but I feel less and less hope as the days rolled by.

Discord is a messaging app and theres a "server" or group that is for people applying to psychology programs! I'm not great with tech so I'm not sure how to send the link to it but I think someone posted it here at the start of this thread

Sorry you haven't heard good news yet this application season.
I don't think comparing CVs is going to help. From my perspective,  you have an amazing CV - great GPA, a master's, publications and scholarships, tons of research experience. What it comes down to often is things beyond the CV. I mean once you reach the level you are at, other things make a difference.
First I do have to say that things have been getting crazy competitive this past few years. I personally know of plenty of cohorts where 80/90% of the incoming class have a master's degree already. I know of one crazy situation where an applicant had a previous PhD degree already. This is insane.
However, I also know plenty of faculty members who take students recommended by close colleagues or from their own labs, with just an undergrad degree. Which then boils down to being the right person at the right time, so more a matter of luck. Other times they look for unique skills or experiences to push their research into a different area in the future. So even if it looks like you have overlapping research interests, they might be looking for something else entirely.
It's very difficult to say what makes a person more or less compatible for a POI, but there are so many qualified applicants on here, that I doubt it's just a matter of CV.

Hi again everyone, for the people who were successful in their applications this year, would you be comfortable sharing a brief overview of your CV (either in a reply or DMed)? It's been complete radio silence from every place I applied to, so I'm assuming it's not going to work out this year. I definitely want to try to get a sense of where I can improve, since I came into this feeling confident I'd at least get interviewed.
FYI - current Psych MA student, MA GPA 4.33/4.5, total Undergrad GPA 3.91/4.5 (last 60 credit hours 4.33/4.5), 3 publications (2 first author), 2 poster presentations, 1 international conference presentation, 3 scholarships (including CSG-M), leadership positions in 3 large research projects across 2 labs. I was applying at the MA level at all institutions

Nope, came here to ask that too haha. Normally the individual POI's reach out for interviews so if absolutely nobody has heard anything then either they're really slow this year or not even interviewing.
I see this year they don't have anything about interviews written on the admissions page; I know the admissions requirements changed somewhat from last year (like the SOP) but I would be very surprised if they aren't interviewing... they must just be having a slow cycle or something
