  1. Well I got Into Laurier pt time online advance standing ?✌️ but as previously stated I will be declining the offer as I have already accepted my offer from Ryerson for their advanced standing program (I can't argue with the scholarship their offering and have already made extensive plans to move). With this, I am incredibly humbled and flattered. I was told over and over my chances were slim because I am not a working professional. So for anyone who is like me and just has a butt load of lived experience and volunteer hours, it is possible to get in. (See my previous post for my stats). Good luck to everyone on the wait list and future applicants!
  2. This is me, however I am 99% certain that if I do gain admission that I will be declining it as I have already made extensive arrangements to attend Ryerson for their one year advanced standing program this fall. edit to add: its really a shame that Laurier has taken so long to get back to people, I might have made a different decision.
  3. Hey there long time lurker myself, I want to validate that it sounds like from your back ground that social work is really where you need to be! Whether that is with U of T or Yorkville is a matter of your needs and goals. In that, yes one school does have a wildly better reputation than the other and it still may not be a good fit for you. With this, if you are only planning on entering private practice Yorkville should be fine. Hot take maybe: it is my experience that most individuals seeking therapy do not know the difference between the schooling of an MSW and counselling psychology within private practice. They're really just concerned with who they vibe with and if they are knowledgeable enough to help them. And so where you graduated matters little. However, if you are planning to pursue further schooling or social work specific employmemt Yorkville may very much hinder you, as some institutions may specify a counselling psych background not enough. Further, Yorkville particularly, (and I won't mince words here) I have always heard it referred to as the school people go to if they cannot get in anywhere else. As I said it really comes down to what is best for you and your goals. Good luck! I hope this helps!
  4. If you go to the admissions section it should have an offer there if you have recieved one.
  5. Thank you! ?? Ad check Ramms, mine was updated today and I was able to accept their offer! Also I was told I had 10 days to accept? And that to just accept and not pay a deposit to hold my spot in case I was waiting to hear from another school.
  6. Congrats! I got a call too! ? I was wondering, on Ramms for you, have you recieved an official communication? On the phone I was told I had 10 days to accept so now I'm nervous for no reason.. I mean they called Friday so I'll probably see it reflected in Ramms with an email Monday. ?
  7. Hi there, I've been lurking the thread this year as I applied to just two schools. I'm happy to say that I got into Ryerson MSW. They actually called me this morning to tell me. As well, they offered me a meaningful scholarship amount. Thank you everyone who posted their stats and general knowledge, it was really helpful for me. So I'm going to do the same. 3.5 GPA or a 90median (BSW) 9,460 volunteer hours 17,557 work hours I have varied work experience that ranges from tutoring to teaching DBT and directing Art camps. My volunteer work is mainly helping to manage a peer support community dedicated to mental health. What I think was the most meaningful (however I'll never know) is my life experience with various adversities such as homelessness, financial insecurity etc. Which I laid out in my personal statement. And how I sought to take that experience and apply it. I hope this is helpful for someone. Don't give up, I am in my 30s and never thought I would be here after everything I've endured in life but here I am. Believe in yourself, you got this! Good luck to everyone! I'm still waiting to hear back from the Laurier online 2 year as well.
