    Can't agree more! I am a current 1 year PhD student and from my 2x experience in applying to grad schools, I realized it is just gambling and rolling your dice. Anyway, good luck to all those applying / applied in this cycle.

    Hello! I am applying for F1 visa and currently in US having H1B status (visa not stamped). I don't see a section in DS 160 where I can mention current status. There is a section which asks about previous US Visa held, where I have mentioned the F1 (stamped a few years back). But there is no space to provide current status. Will this be a problem? Anyone encountered this before?

    Accepted the offer from Uni of Minnesota! Got directly admitted into a lab (Neurovirology), saving a year! For those who got admitted, good luck on your program and congrats! For those who are still waiting / got rejected, don't lose hope. I got rejected last year and know how it feels. Peace out!

    During the interview they said it depends on how well you did, and how well you fit with the program, for the interviewers to get back. The earliest would be a week. The latest would be in the mid of Feb. I got it in 5 days from the date of interview. My interview went smoothly.

    Got my first admit (email from prospective PI who interviewed me) from University of Minnesota! First choice! Woot woot!

    Nothing can be said until the mid of February. If you don't hear from them by then, it might be a silent rejection.

    I got an email from GEMS that first round of interviews went out, but also that they haven't reviewed my application yet. They are planning to review applications for the next 10 weeks. I think they are planning on doing rolling admissions till the class gets full

    What can I expect for a 30-min virtual interview with Program advisory committee? Would be great if someone gives an idea on the type of questions they would ask.

    Just got an interview invite for CMB at University of Minnesota! One of my top choices!! Had an hour long discussion with POI last month. That definitely helped!

    I emailed Tim Sullivan in GEMS. He is out of office until Jan 3. I remember him saying they are planning to send out invites before holidays ? But I also saw in the results section that invites came as late as Mid Jan last year for interviews in the month of Feb.

    Nope. Still waiting. You can email them. I already emailed them twice last week ? They said they will send invites on Tue. But no signs of it yet.

    Yeah. If there was one school that I was never optimistic from the start, it would be Emory ? They are way fucking selective. That being said, Good luck ?

    Got rejection from UMaryland Neuro PhD. Expected one. Saw that invites were sent from Emory Immunology program. So probably that too ?
