I contacted Columbia and they told me that they only start processing applications for my programme now (alyanumbers, it may apply to you as well) and the status should be updated within a week.
I agree with the last statement.
If the word limit is not indicated, it is probably advisable not to exceed 1000 words. However, do not feel obliged to fill the space. If you can write a good SOP in 500-800 words, it is great!
My plan B is to go to Amsterdam and become a street dancer. I will be living in one of those shaky boats on the water as I won't be able to afford much else.
Seriously, no plan B. It is only Plan A!
- I study International Relations.
(What follows next is probably endured by many IR students.)
- So do they teach you how to be a diplomat? Will you join Foreign Office?
- Do you want to be a spy?
- How long does it take to become an ambassador?
- I think it would be a wise idea (bitch slap) to work for the UN.
- Citing some random piece of world news they heard on TV that morning and misunderstood/misrepresented anyway; then trying to intellectually sum it up along the lines: 'Everyone knows that China and India are friends.... or was it China and Pakistan? Anyway... what do you think?'
You posted here a couple of months ago, haven't you? You were dissatisfied with your programme, particularly the faculty.
I suggest you speak with some professor you can trust in that department and perhaps address your frustrations. He/she will then know how to help you best. Really, don't be afraid to talk to someone.
