I just found out most of the money is going to our medical center, so...maybe not as helpful for departmental funding as I would have thought.

I'm in the same boat as you. It's really frustrating, especially since two of my recommenders contacted me yesterday, wanting to know if I'd heard back from any schools.

I go to OSU for my undergrad, and the school just received a huge donation from Mr. Lex Wexner. I don't know if that will influence decisions this year (or even where the money is going), but maybe there will be hope in future years for more grad student funding?

I don't remember if I posted this already, but did anyone claim the UCLA Middle East acceptance? That's the first result I've seen for my field from the schools I applied to, so I'm curious. Also was it for modern? Medieval?

I made it through Valentine's Day with no rejections. But...no school proclaimed their undying love and devotion to me either. Just one letter, grad schools? Please?

When I'm at home or work, I always have my email up. When I'm anywhere else, my phone lets me know whenever I have an email. So I basically have a mini spazz attack 100 times a day. I don't obsessively check my mailbox because I'm never home during the day. If I get decisions via postal mail, I'll find out in the evening when I get home. I check the websites too, but email is my main method of madness I think.

I've gone through almost the entirety of the first six seasons of House. I'm on the last season of Battlestar Galactica. And for the record? I rarely watched TV before this. I also work almost 20 hours a week, am taking 25 credit hours of coursework, and doing research for my honors thesis. And eating sugar. Oh my God, so much sugar. It's kind of out of control.

I study history and applied to just Ph.D. programs. The schools I applied to did not even have a master's option - if you applied, it was for the Ph.D.

My boyfriend and I both work on Valentine's Day...at opposite times. So instead, we are going to dinner Sunday night. He's waiting on the result of a job interview in Philadelphia, and I'm waiting on grad schools so we both are a little overly-stressed...just doing something together will be nice.

Me too. I just want one letter to know that I'm in the game, so to speak, but if that one letter is a rejection, then I'll probably wish I were back in the "ignorance is bliss" stage. I had no idea this would be so nerve-wracking...

Haha, well, that's encouraging. OSU is my undergrad, and I didn't apply here because I'm more interested in medieval Syrian history (we have a lot of Ottomanists on faculty). I hope my application is unique enough that I get in somewhere.
