Fall 2012ers: How are y'all feeling?
cquin replied to bdon19's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
THIS. I just met my boy two weeks ago, and I leave this Monday. Why couldn't my timing be better?! Aside from that, I too have nothing packed and continue to squander the hours away on the internet, rather than figuring out how to transport six or seven boxes full of books. -
Bumping this thread because I'll be attending UF's English program this fall! Very excited. So...hi everyone!

Yaaay! I don't check this thread in 2 days and when I return, it's all rainbows and sunshine! Remember when we were angst-ridden just a few months ago?

Funded English MA programs
cquin replied to evsnow's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
I've been accepted to (and will attend) UF's fully-funded MA program; however, the English department director told me that within the next few years, they will begin to phase out the MA and have a PhD only program. Just throwing that out there. But for the time being, it's an amazing deal with a fairly large stipend, especially considering the cost of living in Gainesville. -
We're going to grad school!

Sometimes as I'm going through the craziness of my day, I stop and remind myself Hey...I'll be in school in 4 months and it makes the rest of my workday bearable <--- (sunglasses to try to play it cool, but in truth, I am ridiculously giddy) -

SOS - Rutgers PhD or Chicago MAPH?
cquin replied to Moon and Sixpence's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
I hope it works out for you, M&S! It's not official yet, but I'm going to go with UF's fully funded MA program -

SOS - Rutgers PhD or Chicago MAPH?

May I just take this moment to say that I love the versatility of the sunglasses emoticon. We've all used it to express everything from apprehension to contentment to unbridled fear. -
SOS - Rutgers PhD or Chicago MAPH?
cquin replied to Moon and Sixpence's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
If this influences you at all, I sometimes forget Rutgers is not an """"official"""" Ivy, because it is so highly ranked. Go for Rutgers. ...And make sure there's a spot for Trip, of course -
University of Florida (Gainesville)
cquin replied to cquin's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
I just returned from UF's open house weekend and found it to be a great experience. I'm fairly positive I will accept. If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me and I can give you some details. -
Best of luck, ribeth! I will be declining my acceptance (MA) so I hope it helps you out!

My fellow waitlistees, I received the following email today after I inquired into my placement on the list: "Dear ---, As stated in my email below, we have a second round of applications to process by April 15th, and the situation remains in flux until then. I understand that this date may be later than you would like, considering you have other offers, but do know that we will be in touch immediately if a place opens up for you. In the meantime, please let me know if I can be of any more help to you." So that sounds...not so great.

Wait listing is NOT the end!
cquin replied to readingredhead's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
I thought I had my decision made until I was waitlisted at Georgetown. Now, because I can't have it, I want nothing more than to get in. Quit playin' games with my heart, Georgetown.
