I think there’s a wisp of hope for Montana still. Otherwise I’m done

I had this fantasy that today would be the day I would get rejected from all the programs I haven’t heard from (Brown, Montana, NYU) but now I’m thinking maybe it could happen tomorrow? I mean I would take an acceptance but if it’s going to be a no across the board I would like to know and be done with this year

No word from brown beyond some waitlist notifications this morning. Based on last year, will probably be acceptances tomorrow and rejections on Monday

Big collective breath everybody. We should prepare for acceptances not to come out until tomorrow and rejections to be Monday based on last year. Try not to make yourself crazy. I just spent a forced 75 minutes away from my phone in a yoga class and can’t recommend something like that enough. Happy spring!! Hoping someone in this crew gets the call

For people who are the same sick as me but actually on a computer, was Brown poetry same day as fiction last year?

I’m feeling very “isn’t the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result” but maybe TODAY is the day we hear from Brown. On this final day of winter.

Ok well my personal list contains most but not all of these 10. I based my list off a combination of Alma maters of authors I admire, funding (full), location, and interviews from the MFA writers podcast. I’m older, married, and not planning on relying on the stipend to exist 100% but am using it more as a vetting mechanism for stronger programs. So, Syracuse is appealing because of faculty, location (I used to live in Ithaca), length of program (3 years is preferable for me).

I think this is true. Someone on draft said they were in regular communication with HZWP over their acceptances elsewhere while reiterating that Zell was their top choice and they wanted off the waitlist. I think it’s totally fair to reach out and say you got offered a spot somewhere else but waitlist program is still your top choice / do they have any updates on their end / thanks in advance / etc

Ok got my UVic rejection. Ready to hear from Brown and Montana definitively please.

I would just take a virtual Gotham course or something and ask that professor. I feel like a fellow workshop mate is more of a peer relationship

Yep I’m also 37, have an MBA and two little kids and am already on a second career. I think you’ll realize at some point where you want to focus your time. Life is long. This is my second round applying and it was easier in a lot of ways this time around. Knowing what to expect was really helpful and allowed me to be much more systematic with apps.

I also applied to Montana (fiction) and haven’t heard. There have been a couple acceptances on draft but generally not great info. It seems like last year they rejected people the equivalent of next week

Do we think this is it for the week now that it’s post 5pm eastern? I *did* get five rejections this week which really feels like progress toward ending this season 💁‍♀️

Checked portal and got my UCI R

Got my Iowa rejection with a handwritten “thanks for the strong application” so I guess I moved up a tier over last year. Am I in a toxic relationship with these programs? Maybe?

UCI fiction waitlist just hit draft

I’m not I actually went there for undergrad (and LOVED it) and decided not to apply because I want a completely new experience. But cannot say enough good things about Davis.

I don’t know but the person I know who was admitted there was also admitted at 3 other programs so if we’re guessing what’s going to happen I would guess movement. They’re going to visit in a couple weeks so I imagine after that is when you would see final decisions

My understanding was acceptances went out but waitlists and rejections should be out by tomorrow for fiction

Delulu confessional time. Last year, I got my Iowa rejection before everyone. Or I was very much in the first wave despite my historically spotty NYC mail service. After I got my R (I’m pretty sure this was the order of operations), Iowa emailed what was effectively the waitlist (yes I know they already waitlisted people this year) and told people who hadn’t received the snail mail rejections that their applications were still under consideration. Just got my mail for the day. Still no rejection. Idk why I do this to myself but here I am with golden retriever level optimism. Thought I would share in case anyone else wanted a trip to crazy town.

Historically they have done the Michigan style full sweep of decisions over the course of a couple days…

Ok just checked my JHU portal and got a rejection. Ngl am digging this 1/day rejection cadence this week. News is nice
