  1. 9 pending is so many!!! Don't get gloomy yet!
  2. For sure! I think at the end of the day the only thing that's always true is that you should submit whatever your BEST stuff is. If that's something you already submitted who cares. Some of these adcoms are reading thousands of stories per cycle, I guarantee they don't remember individual pieces. Of course, whatever your/our best story is right now can almost definitely be made even better over the next year!
  3. Idiotic's a bit harsh lol, I can see some situations where using a piece you applied with in the past would be valid. I used totally new pieces this year for my second try but I do know a person I was in workshop with this past summer who applied with the exact same samples and got in their second round. edit: And to me to that's all the more evidence of how subjective and sometimes arbitrary this process is, and why you shouldn't take rejections personally (to the extent that's possible)
  4. CONGRATS!!! That's amazing!!!
  5. What's everybody up to tonight? Share your fun or boring plans to help distract my restless noggin
  6. Damn, grapefruit if you're here...I'll have what you're having. Huge congrats! 🫢
  7. Next week and the week after are gonna be busyyy with notifications, I can just feel it
  8. I'm considering it a soft rejection tbh. I think they take 4-6 per genre, so I feel like it's most likely those other few acceptances just aren't on the forums.
  9. Last year if I remember right it was the last week of Feb.
  10. Does anybody know anything about Boise State or Northern Michigan University? I applied to them very last minute when I was panicking and wanting to add more apps but I don't usually hear too much about either one on the forums. Just curious if anybody has intel.
  11. You got this!!! And congrats on getting this far!
  12. I think this has basically been said elsewhere by people who are more knowledgeable than me, but I did an mfa in screenwriting and I remember PANICKINGGG over the interview, only to be told once I was in the program (by the professor who interviewed me) that the interview itself is literally just a vibe check. If you've gotten to that stage it means they're excited about your writing and want you in the program. Now they're just trying to assemble a cohort of relatively chill and humble people who can give each other feedback and not be a menace in workshop (because there ARE people who would be a menace in workshop). I think you can outline a few main talking points for yourself (favorite books, things you're currently reading, a bullet point or two about why this is a good program for you), but overall, as corny as it sounds, you should just be yourself and treat it like a conversation.
  13. Hey, SOMEBODY is gonna get into those schools and there's no reason it couldn't be you! I feel you though, it's so hard not to second guess the application process while you're in the waiting phase.
  14. TY both!!!! Just watched her Kanye video and it was exactly the vibe I was seeking This is such a great niche find, I'm so glad you told me about it!!!
  15. Dude this week is killing me and it's only Tuesday. Anybody watching any good youtube channels, listening to any podcasts, etc? I need fresh brainrot material or I'm gonna lose it.
  16. LETS GOOOOO CONGRATS!!!
  17. Just got an email rejection from Cornell (fiction). waaah
  18. 🕯️ Manifesting U of Oregon and Wyoming 🕯️
  19. Y'all I love our neurotic little group chat we've got going on here lol. Hope everyone does something nice for themselves today!
  20. 1000%. I've lived in my current city for ten years and it would lowkey be the easier option if I didn't get in anywhere and wasn't forced to consider moving. Last year I did this while in a relationship with someone who couldn't/wouldn't have moved, but this year I'm single and it feels like everything is both way more open to me, and way more terrifying. I think having options is its own kind of stress, and I'm manifesting options more than anything at this point.
  21. Omg - Cornell poetry acceptance on the spreadsheet! Congrats if you're here!
  22. Guys I just heard from IU Bloomington - I'm on the waitlist for fiction!!!!
  23. Surprised we haven't heard anything from U of Oregon yet; I had my money on calls going out early this week (although of course maybe they did and nobody reported it).
