  1. My best advice (and I'm still learning!) is to just submit, submit, submit. Make it a habit of getting on Submittable every day and submitting to 5+ places. Once you're used to it you can do it really fast. When you're submitting that much the rejections will start to roll in which will feel demoralizing at first, but eventually you get to a place where a) you're submitting so much that you don't even always remember submitting to the place that rejected you and b) the rejections almost start to feel validating because it's evidence of how many places you've submitted. Or maybe that's just me lol.
  2. Pretty sure Brown has trended towards mid-March from what I've seen on past years' threads, but maybe somebody else has other info?
  3. Prowling the past threads again and just realized University of Arizona notifs started going out this day last year and the year before.
  4. Ugh today feels like it's been another slow day. I don't know why but I really had it in my head that there was going to be a big wave of news all week. edit: i do know why, it's because I'm delulu ❤️
  5. I definitely wouldn't beat yourself up about this, it happens! I think it's nice that you reached out with an update once you realized.
  6. Scrolling past threads (again) (I need help) and fun fact, the first Iowa fiction notification got posted on this day last year 😬
  7. Agreed, I don't know why but I just have a feeling this week is going to have a LOT of movement. Excited and scurrrred
  8. I wondered this too 🙃 Seems odd that it's the only one, unless anybody saw anything in Draft?
  9. There's an Iowa fiction acceptance on the results board>?????? Congrats to whoever that is holy shit! Now I'm spiraling.
  10. I'm now at the point where I actively dislike weekends because I feel like there's less chance of getting admissions news. 🙃
  11. For everyone looking for something to do to distract themselves from the constant email refreshing, I just spent a couple of hours compiling a big list of writing residencies I'm going to apply for over the next year, and I honestly feel a lot better. If you're like me and need to feel like you're working towards something instead of just sitting around waiting, I feel like doing something like that would help! Doesn't have to be residencies, but putting plans in place/setting up something new to hope for is important I think. The apps are out of our hands now so might as well give yourself another goal to work towards in the meantime.
  12. Ahhh okay thanks for the intel! Do we think that means acceptances have already gone out? Or is it a myth that waitlist notifs always come after acceptances?
  13. Are the Oregon results from today and do you remember how many you saw? I'm not in the cool kids Draft club yet 😓
  14. Not at all! I did an MFA in screenwriting and spent the last ten-ish years working in the tv industry (which I think will be a pretty hefty strike against me, as I've heard Brown in particular rarely takes people who already have a writing-related MFA). Fingers crossed for you too!! Where are you waiting to hear from?
  15. Thanks! I applied for fiction at Brown, U of Arizona, U of Oregon, and Iowa. All long shots, but since I've already gotten myself in lifelong debt from one MFA program (lol) I decided I'll only do another if it's fully funded and someplace I'd be absolutely hyped to go both program and location-wise. So we'll see!
  16. Hi all, first time posting - at least, first time posting in eight years. 🙃 I lurked this site to the point of actual insanity when I was applying to my first mfa, and I kind of can't believe I'm doing it all again but here we are lol. I told myself I was banned from thegradcafe, reddit, and all the rest until decisions come out but I'm weak and the waiting is killing me so hi! Hope everyone's hangin in there.
