  1. I am feeling MAXIMUM bleh today. Only an acceptance call could lift me out of this bleh week. But that's okay, being bleh is part of being human. mud puddle, I saw your post before about rolling over your app -- don't be scared to reach out to the coordinator/admin and ask if they got your app! I hate doing stuff like that but you'll be proud of yourself once you get it done.
  2. And to torture me, I arrived at school today (am student teacher) to find a James Michener book staring at me...
  3. Congrats!! Welcome to Waitlist Purgatory... where we languish, waiting for a sign...just kidding. Definitely hold out hope! I'm in line for a coveted 3-spot MFA too and I'm still holding out hope that one person will decline, just because they have a better offer or don't want to move to the area. YESSSSS. Congrats. Proud of u for getting through those rejections while sick! You're killing it!
  4. @CorneliusBreadicus Don't worry, I'm not paying $60,000. Either they like me enough they're creating a whole new grant for me, or I'm peacing out. Also, congrats on Syracuse! I don't think I said it directly back when.
  5. I had no idea who to email, because the decision literally came from the portal (lol. I'm getting a bad feeling about this program) but I emailed the main admissions coordinator lady asking her for info on fellowships and grants. thanks for the support, guys. here's hoping I don't need any of this becausse I'm getting into iowa. hahahaha
  6. I would love to wait it out, but they've given me a response deadline of Feb. 25, lol. Should I try to get them to extend it or something ?
  7. CAN THIS DAY END ALREADY
  8. Thank you mr specific! You were ultra specific in saying that I am good enough for fully funded, and I needed to hear that:) you're right. I'm declining my spot at NW and holding out for a JHU or Vandy spot, or a fully funded acceptance (crosses self). thanks for the support @mr. specific @pomelo@pananoprodigy. you guys have been invaluable and you would all make great grad school classmates!!
  9. I am so thankful for these replies, guys, you don't even know. This is the MFA in the SPS, yes, but I thought it was a fully-funded MFA. I just have been on a huge roller coaster of "Omg! I got an actual acceptance!" followed by "wait... fuck. I made a mistake. I didn't research enough" and I thought "well, like NYU, there could be grants!" then ...."no." I'm okay, though, I'm going to focus on my waitlists. My sister, who's currently a grad student at Columbia (funded....) told me I need to "TOUCH GRASS." Lol, so that's my goal today. Go for a walk, get Vitamin D, air and endorphins, and remember that grad school =/= worth!
  10. I just called Northwestern Financial Aid and it was the most robotic, horrible experience. She just kept repeating where on the website I could apply for a loan. I am so discouraged right now I'm crying. I know it might seem insensitive, since I have some promising waitlists, but I'm really struggling with the idea that I have to decline my only acceptance so far because of a mistake I made in the application process. I really thought NW was funded. Any advice to move on?
  11. OMG! Congrats! Happy to see someone in the forum get a spot.
  12. I'm numb. lol Haha I think we can have hopium until the end of today. then its truly over I'm waiting on Vtech too but there are some early Draft responses, so I'm not optimistic
  13. Yes that's right! There def aren't 18 posts or spreadsheet entries but I'm assuming there are many people who were accepted/waitlisted who aren't on Draft. I could be wrong and there could be more coming!
  14. Well, that's that. Looks like acceptances and waitlists for both fiction and poetry went out, based on Draft. Oof.
  15. Michigan is notifying. Hold onto your hats and socks, folks.
  16. Nope. I refuse to take out loans because I know I'd never be able to pay them back. I thought I had applied to all fully funded programs but turns out my one 'A' so far is completely unfunded. I'm going to decline the offer soon unless by the grace of God they offer me funding. I think it's smart not to take out loans. However, if you have the savings to cover the 10%, that might be a different story.
  17. *screeching noises, loud slams, gurgles, and finally silence*
  18. Ah, good to know I'm not alone. Brown is my dream school and I agree; it's sort of hard to find info about it and there seems to be fewer people announcing admits on here and Draft in general. maybe they discourage social media posts? In any case, I'm also anxiously awaiting their results in March. @dietcokeenjoyer I love diet coke too! Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to hear you're feeling discouraged, but you shouldn't, especially since this is your first cycle! If you don't get any acceptances, you'll be super informed and ready next year, and you'll have the summer to write a great story for your apps. Ultimately, you're the only one with the power to declare yourself not a writer – and you have the power to name yourself one , as well! you got this!
  19. Ah, I see! You're poetry, right? Did you inquire over the weekend? Oof, this one's got a little kick to it. I'll be having an anxious week, most likely...
  20. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! curious about your source since you've posted something similar before, but I won't press!
  21. @SisterRimbaud welcome & good luck! and thanks, @Scribe. It's a confusing process and we shouldn't go too hard on ourselves!
  22. Looking at michener stuff in draft, and it's making me feel like a total idiot because i didn't know you only had to pay the fee once to apply to nwp 😭I wasted that money and time on northwestern when i could have applied to nwp! Oh well, it's a learning experience. if i have to apply again I'll be much more informed!
  23. Wait, no way, I totally misread 😂that's amazing! Odds are higher I'll get to congratulate one of u!
  24. I'll be rooting for one of you guys to get that last call ❤️
  25. @saramsarang no worries!! I'm still super hopeful, bc it seems like Michener hasn't sent poetry acceptances yet! Condolences to all who applied for fiction and here's hoping for a waitlist notif!
