  1. He's already leaving?? He's only been there since July 2009... Going back to Princeton??
  2. i applied by the November deadline and was notified on Jan 31. I know an individual that applied for the mphil in philosophical theology for the Jan deadline...no word yet. I think Ox has another week to decide, correct?
  3. Ah, ok. that make sense. have you tried taking courses through the BTI? also, best of luck concerning Yale!
  4. has anyone decided which program they will be attending this fall? i'm torn between the mphil in social anthropology at Oxford and the Mdiv at Boston U. I should hear back from BU next week concerning funding, and I won't know about funding from Oxford till late-March. right now, i'm strongly considering BU. All the people i have communicated with from there are super cool, and i love the program.
  5. Sara S., i'm curious as to why you are transferring from one master's program to another in light of the fact that you are in a fully funded program already?
  6. i hope you get in too! also, did Duke call you back about financial aid? keeping my fingers crossed for you! i'm glad, however, that i am no longer waiting to hear back from programs but the decision process is not fun
  7. that's a bummer; however, you still have some great schools left to hear from.
  8. the comparative religions program can open up many doors. there's a cool prof (Lance Laird at Boston U. School of Medicine) that did a ThD in comparative religions at HDS, and now he teaches medical anthropology. http://www.bu.edu/bhlp/About/faculty.html
  9. i think he has posted elsewhere that he already has two master's degrees in theology.
  10. Back to the original topic: you can study comparative religions at HDS. i think this may be a good option.
  11. let me know if you get into HDS for the MDiv. I'll be at BU. We can take a course together through the BTI.
  12. I agree completely. Of course theology is "happening" at HDS; it is, after all, a divinity school. It was a facetious remark. Although, it depends how we define "actual theology" and to what extent it is happening. Anyway, the purpose of my previous post is to link to a thread where this issue is somewhat discussed.
  13. From what I've heard from individuals that attended HDS for the master's degrees, one can expect to learn very little actual theology. so this might be the place for you. Also, read this thread:
  14. wonderful!!! are you pleased with the funding situation at Candler? i hope you hear from BU soon!
  15. Congrats!!! I have a friend at PTSem doing his MDiv and he LOVES it.
  16. to those accepted to master's program in anthropology or archaeology at University of Oxford, have you been notified yet concerning a college decision or funding? i'm still waiting on a college decision, and i suppose the deadline for a college to make a decision (at least for my app cycle) is today...I hope i hear soon!
  17. Hello Everyone, Have any of you applied to Oxford for one (or more) of the numerous theology master degrees? if so, has anyone heard back from Oxford yet? thanks in advance!! all the best, NM
  18. did anyone apply to Oxford for one of the master's degrees in theology? if so, have you heard anything from Oxford?
  19. i hope those that applied to HDS, YDS, and Union get in!
  20. John Lukacs's At the End of An Age.
  21. crossing my fingers I get fully funded at BU. if I was invited to Leadership Candler, I'm wondering if my application is competitive enough to receive full funding at BU too?
  22. i hope you receive substantial funding! let us know!
  23. you rock!!! congrats!!!!!!!
  24. I agree. I'm in the same situation with one of the public health programs I applied to, but I'm not making any decisions till I see everything in writing. Also, i'm probably going to do the MDiv at BU anyways.
  25. someone posted they were rejected from Harvard via the website (i'm assuming embark), but I've heard they are only notifying applicants via mail.
