Did she list a Canadian school as her potential school to take up the SSHRC fellowship? If so, she can try contacting the FGS at that school.

ashleyv, are you master's level as well?

Dood's program says MA history, so I don't think us doctoral folks should get our hopes up for today. HOWEVER, it does seem like they are sticking to their schedule that natalia posted, so we should find out next Monday/Tuesday from our own faculties of graduate studies. Yippee for some finality and congrats to all the master's folks who "win" a SSHRC!
  5. I applied at the doctoral level because I wanted to keep the research option open. I have also heard that if you want a leadership position in the field (i.e. something like the director of school psychology for a school district), having a doctorate helps. You are also able to gain licensure in most states to practice as a "psychologist" with your own private practice. If none of these interest you as potential options, it's definitely not worth applying and doing the work for a doctorate. PM me if you want my stats.
  6. I know I'm doing well when I'm ALMOST as good as t_ruth!
  7. Hi there, I noticed that you applied at the Ed.S. level. I applied and was successful in PhD School Psych programs, so perhaps my experience was a little different. Are you applying to only Ed.S programs again next year? I'd be happy to provide you with my info if you think it would help. What schools did you apply to?

My impression is that these new dates that have been given: May 4/5 for masters and May 11/12 for doctoral (through your university's division of graduate studies) are the final dates. All the other dates we've gotten is when one of us emailed/called SSHRC. That email allegedly came from SSHRC and was sent to all Canadian universities. I don't think they'd take it upon themselves to send out such a mass email if the dates were only tentative. As I've said earlier, I think the hold-up has to do with the Vanier awards. Since this is the first year, I'm sure there was a lot of scrambling re: how to distribute them. I also have a sense, again from that email natalia posted, that the SSHRC admin staff got involved in the Vanier award distribution and perhaps even the planning of that announcement/event that went down in Ottawa last Thursday. All of this is to say that I think that the reason we're waiting is because the staff that normally deals with all of the administrative/paperwork side of things for the SSHRC fellowship competition was busy with other things for a few weeks, delaying the whole show. I suppose we'll know if they stick to the dates by tomorrow or Tuesday....Master's applicants, please please post as soon as you know!

More importantly, as thepoorstockinger pointed out, SSHRC couldn't just request transcripts without us giving explicit permission for them to do so.
  11. More like $600,000/year a dozen! In all seriousness, 34 is a very, VERY small portion of the graduate population at UofT. Congratulations!

and so begins another weekend..... btw, did anyone else notice that the email I posted on the previous page was from Suzanne Bigras, and dood's email was from Gisele Bigras? (I know this is completely meaningless, just trying to kill time and my super-sleuth skills have nothing better to focus on)

You can use it for whatever you want. They don't ask for receipts or anything like that.

FYI I emailed SSHRC this morning to find out when the universities would have access to the list: "Hi, The universities will probably receive the results list next Monday or Tuesday. Sincerely, Suzanne Bigras Program Assistant | Adjointe aux programmes Fellowships and Institutional Grants Division | Division des bourses et des subventions institutionnelles Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Conseil de recherches en sciences humaines du Canada 350 Albert Street | 350, rue Albert, Ottawa, ON K1P 6G4 E | C : Suzanne.Bigras@sshrc.ca T : 613.943.7777 F | T : 613.943.1329 http://www.sshrc-crsh.gc.ca"

I happen to have the name & phone number of the appropriate contact at my university. Perhaps you could find the same info? I always find it harder for them to ignore phone calls than emails

So, according to my theory from an earlier post, it's *possible* that the grad studies offices at our respective universities could have access to the results tomorrow. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but plan on calling them in the late afternoon to see if anything is available.

There's a ceremony in Ottawa this afternoon. I wouldn't hold your breath for any regular SSHRC results today.
  22. Very odd. Did they know that you didn't apply elsewhere?

I thought all this business-related degrees hooplah was in the budget that just came out from Ottawa....which means to me that it would be in place for NEXT YEAR'S SSHRC competition.

There's definitely a link for it: http://www.sshrc.ca/site/winning-recher ... x-eng.aspx Scroll down to Master's Scholarships, and you'll see 2009-2010. Alternatively, click "Winning Research" on the side, then "Program Statistics" then "Statistical Tables".
