  1. I was told by a professor that the presidential scholarships offer four years o support. But, for some reason I have the feeling that those who were offered presidential scholarships already know (I may be way off on this). But, overall I've heard , like you all, that funding tend to be low. I guess over the next week or two we will see.
  2. Anyone else considering GTU? I've been admitted to their Art and Religion program and am really interested in the program though still waiting to hear about funding. I'm also still waiting to hear back from other programs which are mostly straight art history. I'm just curious if anyone else out there is considering GTU and what your thoughts are.
  3. Actually, at this point I'm kind of numb. I just want the results so I can figure out what I'm doing. I half expected it to be a rejection since that one acceptance was posted a while back.
  4. I got the same e-mail. There was one acceptance posted a couple of weeks ago. If we are rejected I think it is just mean to add us to their e-mail list.
  5. I also got the e-mail informing to check for the terse rejection letter. It is never a good feeling to be rejected but at least results are starting to come in.
  6. Congrats on the admit! There are still a lot of programs and a lot of time so don't get too anxious (II certainly am struggling with that) but it does ease the pressure to have an admit.
  7. Thank you for the information. It is appreciated.
  8. I would assume you are correct. However, someone in Art History just posted an acceptance from Yale and there had been no discussion or postings over there about interviews. I don't know i this means that the interview happened but wasn't posted or if the interview process isn't fully implemented yet.
  9. That is better than last year when they had 245 applications and filled 9 spots. But, not much. I didn't apply for the Art History program at Yale because they don't have anyone that lined up with my interests. But, I applied to Yale's American Studies program and their Art & Religion in the Institute of Sacred Music (both to work with Sally Promey). I haven't heard from either of them yet. The Institute of Sacred Music is very programmatic in their approach and tell everyone up front that they mail out decisions on March 15th. But, the American Studies program is in the same boat as Art History. No news and with the addition of the interview no one knows what to think as far as timeline. @artofdescribing I'm curious about the tough questions if you don't mind divulging.

I like Richard Shiff. UT Austin wasn't a good fit for me but he was very kind and helpful in helping me try and find other POI's for religion and contemporary art.
  11. This is kinda weird. I haven't heard anything from UC Irvine since I applied. I wasn't interviewed. So, I' thinking I likely wasn't accepted. But, today I got an e-mail from the financial aid and scholarship office saying they got my information and I'll be receiving more information in the near future about my application. And, asking me to sign in to the on-line account and give them more information if needed. This on the same day that an acceptance to UCI was posted on the results board. I don't know if this is a positive sign or one hand not knowing what the other is doing. But, it certainly is curious.
  12. I hope that is it. But, it shows the internet part ass not even complete. I'm certain I did this. My recollection is that like all the other apps you pay the fee once you've filled out all the internet part. But, maybe I'm wrong and just screwed up? Who knows!
  13. Okay, this talk about checking statuses now has me freaked out. I filled out the Temple application in late November and then the slideroom application a few days later I paid the admissions fees on both and then never went back to the banner application. I did check the slideroom one to make sure my letters arrived. But, with this talk I decided to go look at my status. The application is unfinished! I'm certain that I completed it and I have the confirmation e-mail for the application fee. I don't know if this is just some weird computer glitch or if I made the most colossal mistake possible. I've sent them an e-mail but won't hear back until Tuesday at the earliest. How frustrating!
  14. I'm feeling exactly the same way.
  15. Congratulations! Hopefully some of the rest of us will hear soon. I'm hoping the mail just hasn't made its way to Louisiana yet. What is your area of study? I don't remember off the top of my head.
  16. I have to correct my self. One student got an 81%. But, half the class failed the quiz. The quiz is only 10% of their final grade so hopefully they will get the point that they have to read and memorize the ID's.I'm not sure why they didn't take it seriously enough to start with. Louisiana has had hiring freezes for the last couple of years so they have been without an art historian. My guess is that the studio professors who taught the art history classes just didn't demand enough from the students. Oh well, they'll figure it out. I am also anxious for results. I've at least heard from some programs but not the pure Art history programs.
  17. you wouldn't feel that way if you were grading them. One class (a tiny Modern Art class) had one A and three F's. The Survey II classs had a high score of 75%. Grrrrr.... Pretty standard quiz and not especially hard they just didn't study.
  18. There is a wait list posting from UPenn. Slowly but surely it is starting to happen...now I need to grade quizzes rather than obsessing over this.
  19. Clairvoyance? That is odd about the date. I wonder if you are right. it could have been an informal acceptance after an interview. I wonder if we will see more Chicago acceptances popping up. This is the right time frame historically.
  20. I see that someone got an acceptance call from University of Chicago. Congrats to whoever it is.
  21. I did the same things last year. I was teaching and heading a department so I figured it would only be worth it if I got into a big name school. But, this year i spent a lot more time trying to find programs that would actually work for me.

Thanks for sharing. I have a couple of friends who went to Augustana.
  23. cokohlik, I see you applied to the same number of schools as I have. To what schools did you apply?
  24. At least I didn't apply to UCSB or Princeton. I hate the pain of people announcing from those schools while I hear nothing. It will happen again I know...but hopefully not for every school.

    CAA 2012

I've been to CAA in Seattle, Dallas, Chicago, and NYC. But sadly, I can't make it this year. I wish I could I love it.
