  1. True, however, your school should be informed directly by NSERC. In 2009 everyone at my school that was sucessful got an email from Grad Studies saying they had been sucessful, and then got the letter in the mail a few to several days later.
  2. Hey wait, I take offense to that! Just kidding. Can we please keep the conversation relevant? PM each other if you need to talk at length. I thought something exciting had happened with all this posting!
  3. I too can't stop checking the GradCafe for updates! I don't know how the next month will ever go by! Good luck everyone - GregSkier - I think you have good chances! Sports seemed really important, and I have nothing sportiv on my application!
  4. Thanks UBC2012, these are very informative posts! I think the results will start trickling down the week after next. As a 2009 NSERC CGS M applicant who was awarded in 2010, I am feeling a little pessimistic that I will be successful again - likley I was one of the 400 'extra' CGS M recipients!
  5. Rejection from UBC Zoology Anxiously awaiting U of T EEB...
  6. Hey Milam1186 Yeah, I think what you said is basically true, it just depends on funding. Have you actually gotten an acceptance from UofT EEB? The professor I've been in contact with said he would take me if I got NSERC and if he got another grant, so it depends on funding...
  7. Thanks for posting, Degelman. Wait2000 - if you go to http://www.researchnet-recherchenet.ca/rnr16/vwOpprtntyDtls.do?prog=1366&language=E, the reserach net link from the Vanier page, it says the anticipated notice of decision is April 15th... hopefully they are indeed on time!
  8. Hi lemonbeans, I'll share some details. I'm in Biology. I have 2 peer-reviewed pubs as a co-author, and three reports, all as co-authors. I did discuss how I am involved in a few collaborations right now in addition to my thesis, so while didn't promise numbers of papers, I think I gave the impression I have a substantial amount on the go that will likely be published. I do a lot of service work in scientific societies, I am student rep in a few, on my uni grad council and a few other committees, do some community volunteer work and volunteer on election campaigns. Hope that helps!
  9. Hello out there, As far as I can tell, no one has started a thread for the current (i.e. awarded in 2012) Vanier CGS competition. I thought it would be great for people to join and share when they hear the word about the Vanier and how they hear (i.e. by mail, email, through their university). From past years it looks like we have about six weeks to go, the results seem to come out mostly in early April. Good luck!
  10. Waiting on three applications UBC Zoology - deadline was Feb 1 UofT EEB - deadline was Jan 15th U. New Brunswick Biology - always accepting applications, submitted mine Jan 15th If any one hears from these programs, please post!
  11. I am also a UBC student. My application also says 'recieved' on the NSERC online services, and was changed to this status on the 25th of November, which is about when I recieved an email from grad studies informing me my application had been forwarded to Ottawa.
