Just wanted to check in with Rhet/Comp folks and see how admits were coming along. Have you been accepted to a program or programs? How many places are you waiting to hear back from?

I have received two confirmed rejections thus far, and one is on the way. I have a feeling that I will be shut out this year, so like Capo, I will be drinking heavily this coming season, but also I will continue teaching. I've got a pretty good teaching job in a place that's been very generous and kind. I have two conferences coming up in March/April that I will present, and I am sending a manuscript out for publication by the end of this month. I will continue going to conferences and submitting manuscripts for publication, and then next year I will apply again, and this time I will apply to more safety schools instead of top programs in my field.

How can you tell you've been waitlisted? Was it via email?

I don't know about the one fell swoop of a date. I like the sporadic dates; I get a rejection and then recover, waiting and hoping for the next piece of correspondence. I've seen people on here post getting two rejections in one day, and wow, that is hard. Just hard. I've also seen people on here post applying to over 20 programs. Could you imagine getting all the results, acceptances and rejections in one day? It's a crash bomb. An explosion of information. Could we really handle it? Would we be on pins and needles until then waiting for those bits of information just like now? I do like that there is a date that some programs adhere to, April 15th. A drop dead deadline. Perhaps it's taint we get from programs that admit early where our anxieties about admits and rejects fluctuate.

Congratulations on your acceptance! I am sure you are elated! Do you mind sharing your stats? If not (I understand), but can you at least say what track you're on, literature, comp/rhet?

It rolled over from pending to denied this morning.

Do you think the rejections were for literature folks?

My app status still shows as pending. By the sheer number of rejections on the site, I am assuming that I have been rejected as well. I just would like a status update as to what is going on.
