  12. There was a pretty large group of admissions sent out on February 26th, with offers going to people in all of the sub-disciplines, so I imagine that was the bulk of the admmissions for now. The visiting weekend is not until the first weekend in April, so I imagine a good number of people may be waiting until after that to make their final choices which could mean you might not hear back for a while (possibly after the deadline). Hopefully you will hear back before then though, good luck!

  15. Yes, I went to the first visiting weekend and there were almost 60 people there (57 I think). They also told us they were looking for an incoming class of ~40. That said, at this point in the game (with less than a month to go) you might as well call/email someone and see if you can get an update. Worst case scenario they tell you you've been rejected, then you would at least have closure. Best case scenario they tell you you have hopefull chances of getting in sometime soon. Either way you should get a clearer picture of your status.

    Boulder

I went out last weekend. It was really nice. I managed to get there on one of those beautiful "winter" Colorado days (sunny and in the 50's). Then I got to experience a rare cloudy day like one might see in Seattle, and on the last day I got to experience a snow storm as I flew out. It was quite an experience! The hotel I stayed in was quite nice with no problems to speak of. There seemed to be a lot of hotels on the eastern edge of campus presumably to accommodate lots of year-round visitors so I imagine they all have a pretty good system down. This is the hotel my department put me up in, might not be the cheapest though so look around. I like to run, swim, do some rock climbing (I hope to get better!) and pretty much anything outdoors so I hope I will be right at home during the free time I can manage to scrounge up. Pearl Street was great, I suggest you take a walk down there one night. There are lots of fun things to do there/places to shop. The Boulder bookstore in particular might be my favorite bookstore of all time. It just has some magic about it.

  19. It will vary among different programs. All of mine for example included funding information with admissions offers. Either way the intention of the deadline is the same. The "gentleman’s agreement" between almost all major universities is such that if they make you an offer with funding, they must keep that funding opportunity on the table until April 15th. This is to prevent a school from making you an offer in February and saying, "You are accepted with XXX funding. Decide within a week or you will lose that funding..."

    Boulder

I decided this past week, and I'm very excited. I was in Boulder visiting for the open house this past weekend and I really enjoyed it. The town, the mountains, and the people all really impressed me in addition to the research opportunities. There have been a lot of suggestions to living locations in thread. I think I'll probably try to look for a location close to the mountains yet away from The Hill (west of 9th street?) but I imagine that will be a long shot. The Table Mesa area is supposedly very nice. Unfortunately my department isn't going to send out potential roommate lists from other committed students until after April 15th. It seems like for Boulder that is pretty late in terms of fall housing. I could always manage on the Hill in worst case scenario I suppose if it was cheap and that was all that was left. I've gotten use to sleeping with earplugs quite often this semester.
