  1. I do understand that. On the flip side - only having 15 days to decide prevents most of us from being able to make a visit (I live in the midwest). I'm not really that comfortable making a decision without having visited, sat in on classes, etc. What a crazy crazy year.
  2. I am continuing to work at my full-time job until the end of our fiscal year (end of June). Then, I'm going to go through the horrors of moving to my yet-to-be-determined new city. After that, I plan to go down to South Carolina for about a month to relax, read books, etc before grad school begins. My friend and I are also planning a pre-grad school trip to Europe since she will be starting on her MFA in New York City this fall.
  3. For the sake of my productivity at work, I wish they would get it over with!
  4. I am curretly an admissions officer at a selective undergraduate institution, and I can tell you that it is very clear when a student has had essays "doctored" as you say. You can always sense when a student is genuine because it rings true throughout the entire application. Admissions officers become very good at distinguishing this when they have an entire applicant pool to review. It was also incredibly nerve wracking being back on the other side of this as I applied to programs... lol.
  5. I never even got an email about the scholarship essay. I sure can't afford to pay everything there.
  6. No problem. What do you think of this Pittsburgh/DC split program? I've been looking up things and it looks pretty interesting. Have you talked to anyone who's actually done it? I can't imagine coming out of that apprenticeship and not being in a good position for a career or applying to PhD programs.
  7. It is 4/15. That is the universal response date that grad schools in the United States (including Carnegie Mellon) have agreed to. My letter says 4/15 - they must have had a typo early on.
  8. Thanks! They sent an email with a link to check the app status on the website. The letter was posted on there.
  9. Finally heard from CMU! I was admitted to the Pittsburgh/DC track with 24k the first year and 28 k the second year. This is really appealing considering the apprenticeship in the second year. I really wish I was able to come to the admitted students weekend, but I'm going to be in DC for the American and Georgetown open houses.
  10. I'm still not sure why we're all thinking it is today when everything from HKS has said the end of the month. Not that I wouldn't like to know today...
  11. I'm not sure. I was planning on attending the GPPI day on April 3. I might go on an individual visit to NYU earlier in the week. Or, I'll do Georgetown earlier and NYU on April 3. Decisions decisions.
  12. My email was a very general admit email with information on admitted student receptions. Nothing about funding. Excited though!!
  13. The Georgetown Open House dates are Friday, March 27 and Friday, April 3. Fall 2009 Open Houses The admitted student Open House dates are Friday, March 27 and Friday, April 3. This is a great opportunity to see GPPI first-hand and meet current students, faculty, and alumni. (Additional information will be enclosed with the admission letter.) If you are unable to attend an Open House, you are invited to arrange a separate campus visit. Please contact GPPI Admissions to make the necessary arrangements or if you any questions.
  14. I also have not heard back from CMU and applied on February 1. Edit: noticed you applied to UMD - they are also a snail mail notification. They'll post on the website that a decision was made and that the letter is in the mail... but it won't say what the decision is!
  15. I'd be interested too... GMU is in my mix.
  16. Linden: you know I love you... as much as I can through thegradcafe lol
  17. Ahh... so if this is similar this year we won't hear this week. Thou shall be banished for whipping us into a frenzy! Kidding of course...
  18. I knew it was on the website!! Lol. See Policy-Applicant, I wasn't just causing everyone to have a nervous breakdown.
  19. Thanks I'm really interested in the program. However, living in London is really expensive and I apparently didn't qualify for their "need-based" aid. I wonder how broke you have to be???
  20. I just found out today that I got into the MPA program at the London School of Economics. Yikes! I didn't think I was going to get in... now that the possibility of going to London there I'm starting to think about it. lol. Any thoughts on LSE? Seems like it would be a really neat opportunity.
  21. April 9??? Wow they sure leave a lot of time before the April 15 deadline. lol.
