  1. It would really depend how different the ranking/prestige is, and how different the money provided is. But based on the given facts I'd got with prestige.
  2. From my experience thus far, some ask you about your research, they talk about their research. And then it branches off into random subjects especially the faulty whose interests are very different. I've talked about everything from sports, to family, to city life, to their graduate experience and so-on. Just have questions ready, because they all ask you if you have any questions for them.
  3. Emphasis: Child development. Your background and rough grades: 2.5 yrs of RA, honors program, 3 or 4 conf presentations, 1 paper submitted for pub. Current undergrad, 3.95 gpa. GRE 1140 and 5.5. Programs applied to: Columbia TC, BC Lynch school of ED, UT Austin (HDFS), Temple, GMU, VCU, CUNY Interview invitations, method of delivery, and date received: I've heard back from everywhere but Columbia via email for interviews. UT ( early december, interviewed there late january. Got accepted here a few days after interview), Temple ( heard back early december, interviewed there late january), VCU (heard early january, interviewed there early February), GMU (heard via email, interview there late feb but contemplating dropping out), CUNY (heard early february, phone interview next week), BC (heard via email/phone this week, interview late february) Rejections: None yet, but I feel i've been wait listed at Temple or rejected, due to the fact that I haven't heard anything in terms of acceptance.
  4. I am pretty sure I am in the process of getting rejected after one of my interviews. I thought it went well, but I haven't heard back so I am under the assumption that I got rejected or wait listed (or whatever the process is). Personally, I'd rather be rejected than wait listed because that is months of not knowing is unbearable..
  5. Congratulations!
  6. Defintely agree. And to the original poster don't go into a MA/PhD program without knowing you love it or for the sake of getting a PhD. That is the worst thing anyone can do to themselves. Also those are some ridiculously high GRE scores
  7. File for FAFSA regardless. Just because they offer you X amount, doesn't mean you have to take it. And for people who don't get either tuition remission or a stipend?.. if that was me I wouldn't even bother going to that program.
  8. Every damn emai gets me anxious... and when it turns out to be junk mail i want to bash my head into the wall
  9. For what it is worth I got a 5.5 and no one in any of my interviews gave two shits about the score. Stop stressing about these things and move along and enjoy the beautiful day or something. Or worry about your next project/research.
  10. I am an undergrad in the process of interviews etc. Up to this point I have 2.5 years of research experience. Did an honors thesis, had a bunch of conference presentations, submitted a paper to a journal pending review. Took some grad courses, worked on another paper that I am polishing up for submission. I would hope this is good enough.. But what you realize is that if they interview you as an undergrad, you are often outnumbered by people who have masters or have real world experiences (at least in my experience this is what it has been like during interviews). If I had any advice for anyone doing this process in the coming years, it would be do an honors thesis, go to conferences and if at all possible submit your work to a journal. It doesn't have to be accepted.. but as long as you can say in review on your CV I personally think that is enough from what I've heard. The icing on the cake is that my recommendations came from my honors advisor/committee. And some of the POI’s have mentioned I got really good recs, but of course wouldn’t give details.
  11. I had applied to the lynch school of ed at BC. Good news is I heard from them today, apparently they called, but I also received an email. The interview dates are feb 27-feb 28th.

    CUNY

I had applied to their ed psych program, heard from them today regarding an interview (date to be determined)
  13. Hi everyone! Was wondering if anyone has heard from boston college (I see a few other people are waiting) or columbia teachers college?
