Oh I know she rocks! It would be a dream to work with and or be supervised by her. Are you an international student too? When I went to visit them they were very clear that they are very limited on how many international students they can take on.

It seems to me that it could only be seen as a positive- so for you I hope it's good news. Did you ask to be put in the Anthro or Soc stream? I noted Sociology but I would love to work with Prof Carol Vance who is Anthro.

I also applied to the SMS PhD but as an international student I was told my chances are rather limited. Two years ago I went and visited the school to learn about the program and the application process- they never mentioned anything about an interview. So Waw hearing about your interview has me perplexed. As we are vying for in all intents and purposes for one spot (maybe 2) of the sociology or anthropology streams of the SMS doctoral program chances are slim to begin with!

Nope no notification by e-mail. But if you go to the application site it tells you that status will be updated there so I have been checking on a semi-regular basis. I originally thought it would be on the gradstatus page but realized that notifications are not made there.

The rejection was on the application page not the gradstatus page- which for mine still says "decision has not been rendered"- even though I was just notified I am out of the running.

Just got my rejection from Northwestern- knew it when I saw the link at the bottom of the application webpage. While I never really thought I would get in - it still stings.

That's actually my thinking as well .....unless because the GPD is e-mailing students directly perhaps there is some staggering in the sending out of said e-mails...?? Probably wishful thinking...

Got my acceptance this afternoon via direct e-mail from the Graduate Director. Has anyone else heard and planning to go to the recruitment weeked slated for the end of March? Would love to hear from you. Wishing everyone the best of luck.

Today I found out I was accepted to Syracuse University (Maxwell School) with funding as a GA. A huge sigh of relief, my first acceptance. Has anyone else heard word?

Hello, Curious as to thoughts on the Syracuse Sociology graduate program. Doesn't seem to be much talk of the program on this site and was wondering why? Anyone willing to share the good or bad on the school, the program itself, courses or faculty I would be very interested and appreciative. Many Thanks!
