Man, you geography doubters have got to read David Harvey and Neil Smith. Really awesome stuff on the relationships between capitalism and cities and how we conceive "nature", etc etc.

Can any of you Brown admits give us any info? Are all the acceptances out? Do they waitlist? I'm sure you're all a little busy bathing in champagne right now, so take your time. Congrats x a million.

I interviewed about two weeks ago and I'm still waiting. No word on acceptance, rejection, campus visit, waitlist, nothing. Just slightly infuriating.

In case it makes any of you feel better: No publications No conferences Attended unranked commuter state school Also floated around a couple comm. colleges Only teaching experience is some scattered tutoring sessions I graduated from the Honors program w/ a 3.9 and I won a writing award and I got 97th percentile on my verbal, but none of this is very notable, especially compared to some of you. And I got an interview with Duke Lit and accepted to UW-Milwaukee! Honestly I think it's primarily because the stuff I wrote about in my sample and SOP is hot right now and made an impression on someone on the committees. So keep yr heads up. I spent four years fretting about things I couldn't control (my UG's lack of prestige) and in the end it didn't matter. Best o' luck.

It's also super arrogant. "My top schools where I want to apply to are Oxford and the Sorbonne. But my safety's Harvard."

I didn't get any info about a visit, which was kind of a bummer. Maybe that's later in the process...?

My interview is Wednesday. As far as I could tell from the sign-up sheet they sent out with the invitation, there were 20 spots. Not sure if all of them were filled. Hey, ivandub, mind giving me some info on what your experience was like? I'm going insane at the prospect of skyping with jameson. The future is a bizarre place.
