Well, then I guess not getting any news yet really doesn't mean anything. Preparing myself for two more weeks of anticipation....

So, I got what I believe to be good responses on my PhD applications (3 different schools), but I'm not sure how seriously I should take them. All of this was long ago during the application process. Now I'm waiting on decisions. 1. Dean of the Faculty I applied to said she's willing to supervise my research and that she had written to the adcom saying she recommends my acceptance. 2. Head of the program said they definitely see a fit for me, in terms of my research interests and their faculty members. 3. A POI has rejected my request for supervising my research, for personal reasons that had nothing to do with me, and promised to speak to "who ever I need to make sure they realize you'd be an asset to our program".

Here's how to beat the system: My time zone is 10 and 7 hrs ahead of the schools', and my weekend is Fri and Sat (not Sun). So it works out that I have almost 24hrs a day and 7 days a week of possibly receiving some updates...

And the stupid status: "under review" for about a month. Can't they be more specific? They should have more status updates, like "we lost your email address and now looking for it so we can send our decision"

I checked the results page. Seems like there's still hope. I just can't stand the wait...

This is SO true. I also check my mail box twice a day, including on weekends when there's no mail service. As if the letter can get here before the email...

How much worse can it get, when my MA thesis instructor, who's also the head of the program, is walking around the university telling people I'll soon be leaving the country to do my PhD, when I haven't even heard from any of the places I applied to?

I'm thrilled I found this forum. I can't take it much longer... Applied to 3 Canadian schools for PhD and still haven't heard anything. Is it a bad sign that it's taking so long? Do you think it might take longer for international students, because of funding or something? [trying to find hope...] I totally relate to some of the other postings here. It's such a bad feeling to wait without being able to do anything about it. I'm finishing my MA thesis now and can hardly concentrate. Glad I found some people to wait with.
