  1. Coming from west coast so plz educate me....is the OGS a top-up award for NSERC or separate on its own ?
  2. haha thanks...I must be losing my mind !!!
  3. What? There is a NEW process?
  4. I just got a reply from coordinator...they haven't received anything yet.....maybe it's on last-name basis individually ? Maybe it is by institution ? Maybe some other kinds of fun algorithm NSERC decides to play this year ? I donno...
  5. also CGS-D is named Alexander Graham Bell CGS-D.....a more prestige sounding name in your CV as opposed to Postgraduate lol
  6. Congrats !!! Your direct supervisor or department coordinator ? Can you be more specific ?
  7. did the same....everyone is working from home probably not so busy.......so let's make them work
  8. NSERC staff might be watching this forum and having their best day ... lol.... can they be more creative to make us lose sleep and freak out ?
  9. Posted in graduate programs? You mean emailed to program coordinators? I am sure NSERC has attached a non-disclosure statement somewhere....
  10. Our university (faculty of graduate studies) never said a thing abt them getting notified before we do...let alone at the departmental level.....final results are through NSERC only ....you are tempting me to email my department now....
  11. Are we going to freak out about who get the second and third email first and who will get them later on ???? ?
  12. This may sound conspiratorial but every yr NSERC seems to be very creative abt how they release the results......
  13. just got the email as well.....last name Y ....11:00 AM MST
  14. Check your school's website regarding tri-council funding....the information should be public and transparent....
  15. Just thinking we are creating a very useful database for future applicants
  16. The total number of applicants is abt ~1000 ish ? I just can't fathom how the IT system couldn't send out 1000 emails all together....after all it's 2020
  17. That's what happened to me last time....your school should have notified you in advance....
  18. I should correct my wording. Our funding is called a research assistant fellowship (you can also get a taxable research assistantship without the fellowship name in it but that is usualy rare unless you are cross-hired by another research group other than your PI's)... it is typically renewed on an annual basis so you have to sign a document acknowledging the start/end date and various collective agreement negotiated by the grad student association.... You are right. I should double check. But I felt like the policies regarding graduate students are rather vague. We are kinda unique in that we are employed somehow but not really.....?
  19. Well not really....it's non-taxable (aka fellowship)..just that there is a contract start and end date with the funding....
  20. What if your RA stipend contract runs until end of Aug while meeting other criteria (i.e. T4 income > $5000 in 2019) ??? I assume that makes you ineligible to apply for CERB because technically I am employed ?
  21. Well...I am assuming the worst...I can apply one more time for the last time this October.....time to publish that damn paper..
  22. Ok it feels like only ppl who will be getting awards received this email.........?☹️
  23. Email from NSERC? I was just reading the CGS-M post....seems like they screwed up the start date for many...unreal...
  24. curious if a deferral is possible....
  25. agree...and hopefully they are not playing "the awardees notified first, rejectees notified later" game
